HomeMy WebLinkAbout20211555.tiffPROCLAMATION EATON REDS DAY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 2021 WHEREAS, after defeating both Resurrection Christian and University in the Class 3A state championship tournament, the Eaton Reds volleyball team played the Sterling Tigers in the championship game on May 13 in Colorado Springs; and WHEREAS, a complete team effort was required to defeat the Tigers, who were the defending Class 3A state champions. Sterling extended the game into four sets, but strong consistent play enabled the Reds to win the state championship 3-1; and WHEREAS, senior Sydney Leffler led the Reds with 23 kills, and senior Abbey Hays led the team in digs with 19. Senior Delany Ochsner had 13 digs and sophomore Rylee Martin recorded 13 to go along with two aces and a team -high of 46 assists. Sophomore Ainslie Ross had four blocks while Sydney Leffler and junior Ahana Leffler recorded six combined; and WHEREAS, the victory not only spoke to the Reds' talent, but also to the continued standard of excellence established by the volleyball program. In the past 10 seasons, Eaton has won seven state volleyball titles — including five consecutives from 2013 to 2017. This year's state championship title is the Reds' 10th in program history; and WHEREAS, while this season's accomplishments add to the storied history of Eaton volleyball, the resolve of this team to win a state championship and go undefeated while dealing with delays and other challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, shows tremendous dedication and highlights the good qualities of our youth in Weld County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that on this 16th day of June, 2021, be known as Eaton Reds Day, to celebrate a remarkable season with players, coaches and parents. 2021-1555 ©Co/ 1 co Hello
