Anderson, Chief Denver Airport District Office Federal Aviation Administration 10255 East 25th Avenue Aurora, Colorado 80010 Dear Mr. Anderson: The Weld County Municipal Airport Board has discussed and planned this acquisition of land for runway extension for several years. It became available for purchase recently and after several meetings the Board recommended it be purchased. This purchase has been approved by the Board of Weld County Commissioners and the Greeley City Council , a copy of the contract is attached. Since the runway is bounded by State Highway No. 263 and the Cache La Poudre river on the east, the only possible direction for expansion is west, which is the location of the land being purchased. You will notice that the appraisals place a value of $20,000. on the improvements and I have been informed by the New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Company that according to most recent sales of capital stock, the 16 shares included with this farm should be valued at $20,000. This leaves $80,000 of the $120,000 purchase price for which Federal Aid is being asked. Anderson, Chief Denver Airport District Office Federal Aviation Administration 10255 East 25th Avenue Aurora, Colorado 80207 Dear Mr. Anderson: This negative declaration is prepared to accompany a request for Federal financial assistance for purchase of land for expansion of the Weld County Municipal Airport, Greeley, Colorado. 1 . Description and purpose of project: (a) Description: Purchase of approximately 130 acres of land adjacent to the airport on the west. (b) Purpose: The proposed method of accomplishment; the land has been purchased with a closing date of July 1 , 1973. Our evaluation of the land purchase is that it is not controversial and is not likely to generate controversy; will not significantly alter the existing character of airport usage; will not cause the displacement of any persons; will not destroy or derogate from any recre- ation area; will not alter the pattern of behavior of any wild life species or interfere with any wild life breeding, nesting or feeding grounds; will not increase air or water pollution; and will not adversely affect the water table of the area. Since this is a land pur- chase only, it will in no way affect waste disposal or increase or decrease flood plain hazards in this area. • Mr. Enoch W. Anderson, Chief Page 2 2. Conclusion: We conclude that the purchase of this land will in no way alter the airport's impact upon its surrounding environment beyond the existing level and the land purchase will tend to enhance the environment by pro- viding a more attractive facility.
