HomeMy WebLinkAbout20212603.tiffPROCLAMATION CONSTITUTION MONTH - SEPTEMBER 2021 CONSTITUTION DAY - SEPTEMBER 17, 2021 WHEREAS, the United States Constitution sets forth the principals for our government and establishes the framework that has served this nation for 245 years; and WHEREAS, the freedoms Americans enjoy today are a direct result of the foundational documents this country's founding fathers drafted to ensure the success of this country through the establishing of unalienable rights to the citizenry; and WHEREAS, the on -going success of this country is dependent on the continued education of our citizens on the importance of our form of constitutional self-government; and WHEREAS, Section 22-1-104 of Colorado Revised Statutes requires that the history and civil government of the United States shall be taught in all the public schools in Colorado and that satisfactory completion of such a course shall be a condition of high school graduation in the public schools in Colorado; and WHEREAS, Constitution Day was established to celebrate the United States Constitution with its Bill of Rights; and WHEREAS, Constitution. Day provides an opportunity for American citizens to reaffirm the achievements of our founding fathers and recommit ourselves to preserving the rights, privileges and responsibilities our nation's founders secured for themselves and for the posterity of future generations of Americans. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the month of September be known as Constitution Month and September 17, 2021, as Constitution Day in celebration of the very document created to establish and ensure the rights of Americans.
