RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON TURNER
BOULEVARD ADJACENT TO 10811 WEST INTERSTATE 25 FRONTAGE ROAD,
LONGMONT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that three (3) "No Parking Any Time" signs be installed on Turner Boulevard adjacent to 10811
West Interstate -25 Frontage Road, Longmont, to ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works, be, and hereby is, directed to install
three (3) "No Parking Any Time" signs on Turner Boulevard adjacent to 10811 West Interstate -25
Frontage Road, Longmont, for the safety of the general public, and said signs shall conform to
the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 22nd day of February, A.D., 2021.

SUBJECT: Installation of No Parking signs on Turner Blvd. for
the Econo Lodge
Please place this request for the installation of regulatory signs on the next available BOCC
agenda.
This request is for the installation of three No Parking signs on Turner Blvd to create a fire lane
for the Econo Lodge located at 10811 W. I-25 Frontage Rd, Longmont, CO. 80504.
PW will have someone in attendance at the BOCC meeting to answer any questions that may
come up.

Brief description of the problem/issue:
The Econo Lodge located at 10811 W.1-25 Frontage Rd., Longmont, CO_ 80504 has been requested to install
afire lane along the back side of their building. The roadway along the back side of the Econo Lodge is Turner
Blvd. which is owned and maintained by Weld County. The Econo Lodge has agreed to paint the curbs in the
area red to designate the area as a fire lane, but Weld County will need to install the regulatory "No Parking"
signs to complete this change. Staff is recommending installing three signs to designate this no parking area.
The no parking signs at each end will have single headed arrows designating the extents of the zone north and
south, while the middle sign will have a double sided arrow pointing toward each end.
What options exist for the Hoard? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options):
• Approve the no parking signs installation request
0 3 signs installed is estimated to cost $750 ($250 each)
• Deny the installation request
o This business would be in violation with the local fire district
Recommendation:
Staff recommends installing three "No Parking" signs on Turner Blvd. to help create the fire lane for the Econo
Lodge.
