Dear Ms. Sims,
Weld County is the owner of parcel 080533300062, which provides the route for a section of the Poudre
River Trail east of N. 71' Avenue/CR 29. The portion of the Poudre River Trail located on this parcel was
originally constructed in 2005 as part of a LWCF funded project (#1059).
Several major floods, starting in September 2013, have caused severe bank erosion resulting in undercutting
of the concrete trail. In order to maintain the integrity of the trail corridor for recreational use, the riverbank
needs to be stabilized and the trail reconstructed.
By way of this letter, Weld County acknowledges the obligation to maintain this area for recreational use
in perpetuity previously placed upon this parcel and that the proposed project, utilizing additional LWCF
funds, to make the necessary repairs to the riverbank and trail does not change that obligation. Weld County
has authorized the City of Greeley to perform the necessary work, as allowed under the IGA between the
Poudre Trail Corridor Board, Weld County, Greeley and Windsor for maintenance and management of the
trail corridor.
If you need additional information, please contact me at 970-400-4200.
Sincerely,
Steve Moreno
