HomeMy WebLinkAbout20221223.tiffPROCLAMATION CODERED WEEK MAY 1-7, 2022 WHEREAS, Weld County Government remains committed to providing tools residents can use to keep themselves, their families and their property safe during emergencies; and WHEREAS, CodeRED is a tool Weld County Government has used since 2014. CodeRED is a free service residents can register for to receive emergency alerts sent to their email or phone via call or text; and WHEREAS, CodeRED alerts are sent by the Weld County Regional Communications Center and notify users of different types of emergencies occurring near their registered addresses. Types of alerts include, but are not limited to, lockdown, evacuation or shelter -in -place notices. CodeRED also gives residents the option to receive weather warning notifications from the National Weather Service; and WHEREAS, we all hope emergencies never occur, but when they do, the alerts sent through CodeRED can provide families with the information they can use to make the best decisions for themselves, their families and their businesses, which will ultimately make them better prepared to deal with whatever emergency they face. Practicing emergency preparedness and utilizing a tool like CodeRED, helps our county and residents be more resilient and can reduce the loss of life and property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that as we enter severe weather season, May 1-7, 2022 be known as CodeRED Week. We call upon the citizens to become more informed, empowered and prepared by registering to receive CodeRED alerts.
