CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
APRIL 2022
WHEREAS, while children are vital to our county's future success, prosperity, and quality of life,
they are also the most vulnerable members of our society; and
WHEREAS, all children deserve to have safe, stable and nurturing homes and communities
they need to foster their healthy growth and development; and
WHEREAS, child abuse can have long-term psychological, emotional and physical effects that
have lasting consequences for victims of abuse; and
WHEREAS, preventing child abuse and neglect is a community responsibility that affects both
the current and future quality of life of a society; and
WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention strategies succeed because of partnerships created
between individuals and families, human service agencies, schools, faith communities, health
care providers, law enforcement agencies and the business community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
April 2022 be known as Child Abuse Prevention month. We urge all citizens to dedicate
themselves to preventing child abuse and improving the quality of life for all children and
families in Weld County.
