IN REPLY REFER TO: COMMENT RES
Community: Weld County, Colorado
(Unincorporated Areas)
Community No.: 080266
This is in response to an email dated April 17, 2022, from Ms. Diana Aungst, Weld County Planner,
regarding the revised preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Revised Preliminary Flood
Insurance Study (FIS) report dated March 23, 2022 for Weld County, Colorado and Incorporated Areas.
Ms. Aungst noted several changes to corporate limits to communities in Weld County and provided FIRM
panel mark-ups and a shapefile. Communities impacted by these revisions include: The Cities of Ft. Lupton
and Greeley; the Towns of Erie, Firestone, Johnstown, Mead, Miliken, Platteville, Severance and Windsor.
Please note that only those submittals that relate to the addition or modification of the proposed flood
hazard information (i.e., Base Flood Elevations, base flood depths, Special Flood Hazard Area boundaries,
zone designations, or regulatory floodways) shown on the FIRM and in the FIS report that satisfy the data
requirements defined in Title 44, Chapter I, Part 67 of the Code of Federal Regulations are considered
appeals. Because your submittal did not meet these criteria, FEMA has processed it as a `comment.'
We have determined that changes to the revised preliminary FIRM and revised Preliminary FIS report dated
March 23, 2022 are warranted based on the submitted data and will incorporate the necessary changes into
the final version of the FIRM and FIS report. We have enclosed "Proof' copies of the FIRM Index report
for your review. The FIRM panels and FIRM database will be updated before the study is finalized. Once
we have incorporated these changes, we will proceed with finalizing the FIRM and FIS report.
Please submit any comments regarding this resolution within 30 days of the date of this letter to the
following address:

Attention: Christine Gaynes, Hazard Mitigation Engineering and Architect Specialist
At the end of the 30 -day period, FEMA will address any additional comments that are submitted. FEMA
will then finalize the FIRM and FIS report by issuing a Letter of Final Determination (LFD). The LFD will
explain the adoption/compliance process and will state when the FIRM and FIS report will become
effective.
We appreciate your community's comments and commitment to having the most accurate flood hazard
information available reflected on the FIRM and in the FIS report. If you have any questions regarding this
matter, please contact Christine Gaynes either by telephone at 202-480-1265 or by e-mail at
