WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County,
Colorado, on behalf of its citizens, desires to express its appreciation
and to publicly recognize the excellence, sportsmanship, and leadership
exhibited in the community by the individuals comprising the University
of Northern Colorado Baseball Team for the year 1974; and
WHEREAS, this UNC Baseball Team has provided the citizens
of Weld County with a unique focal point of civic pride; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to recog-
nize and honor these athletes for these special contribution to the ideals
and principles of diligent effort, cooperation, enthusiasm, and a sense
of accomplishment for a job well done; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to extend
to Mr. Tom Petroff, its appreciation in recognition of his outstanding
leadership of this ball team and his ability to instill dedication and a
sense of positive purpose in young people, which spirit of determination
and enthusiasm will serve them well throughout their lives and into the
future of this County, State, and Nation; and
WHEREAS, the standard of excellence and performance set by
these young people provides an example to others that well-deserved
rewards and goals can be accomplished in the face of seemingly insur-
mountable odds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the following mem-
bers of the 1974 Baseball Team of the University of Northern Colorado
be individually presented with plaques memorializing this happy and
proud occasion for Weld County:
