NATIONAL AG DAY
MARCH 22, 2022
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners wishes to celebrate and recognize the
agricultural producers of Weld County; and
WHEREAS, Weld County is comprised of 2.5 million acres, 75% of which are devoted to
agriculture. Farmers, ranchers and farm families are the primary cultivators of our environment.
National Ag Day reminds and encourages us to thank these individuals and their operations for the
meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy products and other animal products they provide us on a daily basis;
and
WHEREAS, National Ag Day has been observed since 1973, when it was first established by the
Agriculture Council of America to increase public awareness of agriculture's vital roots and in our
civilization. The families who harvest the crops, produce the livestock and dairy products, and pass
down this way of life to the next generation help put food on our tables and enrich our souls; and
WHEREAS, Weld County is the longstanding top producer and seller of agricultural products in
Colorado, ranking eighth nationally, bringing in $2 billion annually to help increase our economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
Tuesday, March 22, 2022, be known as National Ag Day. We call upon the citizens of Weld County
to make a commitment in celebrating and thanking our agricultural producers in helping to keep our
bodies and souls nourished.
