GENTLEANs i 1*, THE UNDERSIGNED, having heard. rypore to the effect that the highway running through Zeete is to be changed to ng go through the town on r____ the-7ee ajd, of the Burl-ington track, would reopootfully. petition- that - - [ such change be not made:at the present time for the following reasons: It would not Shorten the route materially, if aj; all; The present route is graded, and is satisfactory; It would be necessary to get right-of-way if new grade should follow the railroad; and if not, the new grade would have to go over low ground that floods in wet periods, making necessary a construction expense that would be better used on roads really needed for the benefit of the resident public; The change would be detrimental to the interests of established business i houses in Eeota, dependent to some extent on the patronage of the tourist trade that would thus be divesated away from the business section of the town; The change is not in the interest of public safety for the reason that the two railroad crossings now in use afford unobstructed view of the track in all directions, and only twelve trains pass oker the track in seven days time, all running at slow speed, so that the railway traffic is in no sense a menace to the safety of highway travellers.
