Weld County Council Appoints At -Large Councilmember
Greeley, CO — Cindy Beemer of Windsor was appointed County Councilmember At -Large Monday night
at the regular meeting of the Weld County Council.
Beemer and four other candidates were interviewed during the public meeting. Each candidate was
interviewed individually and given 20 minutes to answer the same eight questions from the County
Council.
Nine applications were received for the vacancy. The five candidates interviewed by Council were Lori
Garcia Sander of Eaton; Bill Gillard of Greeley; David Huntwork of Windsor; and Trent Leisy of Windsor.
Ms. Beemer fills the vacancy left by Councilmember Elijah Hatch who is running for county commissioner.
Her term will end on 12/31/2024.
Ms. Beemer was born and raised in Greeley, graduating from Greeley West High School in 1996. She
graduated from Colorado State University in 2000 before beginning her family. Her son is serving in the
US Navy as a Nuclear Electronics Tech and her daughter is a college freshman studying International
Business. Both graduated from Windsor High School.
In 2002, Ms. Beemer began working with her dad in his insurance agency which she took over from him
in 2009. The family business, Beemer Insurance - Farmers Insurance, has been helping protect families
in Northern Colorado since 1971. From 2014 to 2018, Cindy served on her agents' association's national
board.
Ms. Beemer has always had a strong desire to help her community through volunteer service. She served
in various roles for more than 10 years in the Weld RE -4 school district including with the WHS Booster
Club and the District's Long Range Facility Planning Committee. Ms. Beemer served on the Town of
Windsor's Board of Adjustments and Appeals from 2011 until 2017 when she was appointed to fill a
vacancy on the Town Board. After leaving the Town Board she began serving on the Town's Planning
Commission on which she continues to serve.
The Council is a non-partisan, voluntary, elected body that has specific enumerated duties set forth in the
Weld County Charter.
