ROOSEVELT ROUGHRIDERS DAY
MONDAY, JANUARY 24, 2022
WHEREAS, the Roosevelt Roughriders poms team competed in the Class 4A state spirit
championships Saturday, December 18, at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs; and
WHEREAS, the pours team showed their talent with a dance routine that bested the effort of 22
other schools. Roosevelt finished the day with a final score of 94.05 to win the Class 4A state
championship.
WHEREAS, the win exemplifies the continued effort on the part of Roughrider coaches and team
members to continually improve on last year's third -place finish. The desire and hard work put
forth by the poms team's nine members to improve are traits that will serve our young people
well moving forward in life and ones we are proud to see the Roughriders display; and
WHEREAS, while every state championship is special, the one earned by the poms team is
particularly unique. Not only is it the first poms title in school history, but it also represents the
first state championship won by a Roosevelt athletic team since 2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
the 24th day of January 2022, be known as Roosevelt Roughriders Day in recognition of the
poms team's state championship and the effort put forth by coaches, parents and team members
to make it possible.
