RE: REGULATING, WARNING AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING THE EXTENSION OF
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 22 BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 31
AND 41 FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWO (2) WEEKS, FOR UNANTICIPATED DELAYS IN
ASPHALT SUPPLY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a):
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, the Board, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of traffic and personal
investigations, has determined that conditions exist which make it necessary to temporarily close
said County Road to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting
signs thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on
County roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of
such traffic control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic
thereon for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to
the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the temporary closure of County Road 22, between
County Roads 31 and 41, be extended, with said extended closure being effective August 12,
2022, for approximately an additional two (2) weeks through August 26, 2022, for unanticipated
delays due to asphalt supply shortage, and further, that standard official traffic control devices
shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
Weld County Public Works is requesting permission to extend the closure of CR 22 between CR 31 and
CR 37 until 8/26/2022 due to asphalt supply delays. Additional day closures from CR 37 to CR 41 are
possible until 8/26/2022 as well.
The closure of CR 22 from CR 31 to CR 41 was originally approved for 4/25/22 through 6/17/22 for the
bridge redeck of bridge 22/35A and road construction. An extension until 8/12/2022 was approved due to
weather delays.
