HomeMy WebLinkAbout20222032.tiffMINUTES WELD COUNTY COUNCIL May 16, 2022 ei The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 16, at the Weld County Administration Building, 1150 0 Street, Greeley, CO. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Nancy Teksten. Councilmembers James Welch, Rupert Parchment and Cindy Beemer were also in attendance, constituting a quorum of members. Councilmember Tonya L. Van Beber had an excused absence. Also present was Council Secretary Linda Kane. APPROVAL OF AGENDA : Councilmember Beemer made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Councilmember Welch and carried. APPROVAL OF DOCUMENTATION: Approval of April 18, 2022, Minutes Councilmember Parchment made a motion to approve the April minutes, seconded by Councilmember Welch, and the motion carried. Resolution 222 -Appointment of Cindy Beemer, At -Large Councilmember Welch made a motion to approve the April minutes, seconded by Councilmember Parchment and the motion carried 1St Quarter Report to the People Councilmember Welch made a motion to approve the April minutes, seconded by Councilmember Beemer, and the motion carried REVIEW PROGRAM: David Springer, Director Fleet Services Mr. Springer stated his department has 20 employees. The largest clients they serve are public works and the sheriff's department. Their mission is to provide safe, reliable and cost effective equipment for the county. He said part of the safety mission includes training and certifying technicians and following federal inspections required annually. He said technicians are audited monthly to ensure practices are up to date. He said it's imperative his department has educated operators and they conduct pre - and post -trip procedures. Mr. Springer said he relies on a preventative maintenance program. This includes evaluating purchased parts for potential future failures; evaluating vehicles for premature component features; and training staff in all aspects of fleet management. He said his department is constantly looking at efficient ways to manage and reduce its budget. This includes repurposing vehicles that still function, perhaps in a rental capacity for a different department. Co tk p- , : CO.-F:O4 S 7/20/2 2022-2032 PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment. NEW BUSINESS: There were none. Coordinator Reports/Councilman Reports Bills Councilmember Welch made a motion to approve bills, it was seconded by Councilmember Parchment and carried. The bills were paid as follows: o Weld County Phone Bill for April $25.06 o Award Alliance, name badges for new councilmember $17.50 Discussion: Sheriff Reams invitation to visit the jail Council discussed an invitation to visit the jail from Sheriff Steve Reams. They determined the best time to visit would be in June, during the regularly scheduled meeting. Anyone in attendance could attend with Council as part of the public meeting. Discussion: Budget items Councilmembers discussed the proposed 2023 budget with the total being $54,268 for the County Council. Councilmember Welch moved to table this item to the July meeting, it was seconded by Councilmember Beemer, and the motion carried. OLD BUSINESS: There was no old business.
