DAY OF THE YOUNG CHILD
SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 2022
WHEREAS, the United Way of Weld County's Early Childhood Initiatives, Reading Great By 8 and
Weld County's Early Childhood Council and its community partners, in conjunction with the
National Association for the Education of Young Children are celebrating the Day of the Young
Child, Saturday, April 9th; and
WHEREAS, these organization are working together to increase awareness in the importance of
early childhood development while helping to facilitate accessible pathways of services which will
lead to the lifelong well-being for all children prenatal through 8 years of age; and
WHEREAS, teachers, childcare professionals, non -profits, and all those who make a difference in
the lives of young children in Weld County deserve thanks and recognition; and
WHEREAS, public policies that support early earing opportunities for all young children are crucial
to all children in Weld County being valued, healthy and thriving.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the
9th day of April 2022, be known as Day of the Young Child in Weld County and encourage all
citizens to work to make a good investment in early childhood in Weld County and all across
Colorado.
