Goodmorning,
I want to thank each of you for your service, and the commitment and sacrifices you have made to represent
Weld County.
I don't live in Weld county, I live in Portland Oregon. Actually Troutdale, outside of Portland. We have a 26 acre
farm, my husband is in family practice, and I am a professional singer song writer.
My daughter is Angela Knopf, who left our state to attend Colorado State University, and found her home in
Eaton, moving there just last June 2021.
Aor to her move to Eaton, she lived in Ft Collins for the last 20 years or more living in the same residence
until the final move to Eaton.
Angela achieved great success at Colorado State, playing volleyball, and helping the Rams reach national
rankings, and honored with a Two time All American, MVP, and "Fun MCGraw" award. After graduating, She
was awarded the NCAA women of the year and is in the CSU Hall of Fame.
Angela went on to play for the USA Volleyball Olympic National training team, and I was able to fly to Detroit to
see her play against the Chinese Team, as she represented our country.
After achieving a great career she went on to play pro beach volleyball on the AVP.
My husband of 48 years, and I attended every volleyball game her senior year at Colorado State and honored
to sing the National Anthem at home games, and from there went on to support her on the beach.
As we have watched our daughter grow up, and move into her passion and dedication with her sport, she has
transferred that passion to help young athletes achieve their success.
Angela coached privately, and has just built her dream gym on her property they purchased.
Week after week Angela struggled to find gym space anywhere to work with her athletes. At one time I believe
she had a waiting list of over 100.
Angela has fought for every inch of her success.
is now fighting to hold out hope to other athletes who need direction, and someone who cares about them.
Here are a few things I witnessed over the years.
i
1. A famous actress in Hollywood had Angela tutor her daughter. Angela showed up to the teacher
conferences, not the mom. Regular visits off the clock to invest and care about this child who was falling
through the cracks.
2. A talented past athlete who's father was arrested and sent to prison, was confused, hopeless, and in crisis,
Angela was the anchor.
3. The mother's attending the baby shower for Angela when she was pregnant with Ruby, went around the
room, shedding tears that it was Angela who helped their daughter stay the course.
They credit Angela for teaching their kids morals, strength, and work ethic. (Honesty I sat there overwhelmed
at seeing my daughter impact so far reaching)
4. Angela has faced many injustices but her backbone is strong, and determined, and never gave up on the
dream of having her gym. Angela used her own 401 and bank savings to build this gym. She has done this on
her own.
Weld county has the opportunity to make a difference in the raising up of young athletes who will make a
difference when they reach adulthood.
We could give you hundreds of names from family members who have been impacted by Angela's coaching
skills and tutoring gifts.
No doubt you have heard what Portland has become in the news. We live blocks from homeless camps. If you
ever want to see "what not to do" we would gladly welcome you to our home as you tour around the hundreds
of camps, and needles and feces we have to face every day.
You all work hard at keeping your state a great place to live.
I encourage you to look at the future of Weld county that has the potential to have a bright star shining in your
own district.
I am proud of my daughter. (She has no idea of me writing this, and please forgive me if I overstepped.)
I thought perhaps you could see another perspective form the outside, although admittedly I am biased and
proud to be so.
Coaches here in Porltand and East County wish they had an Angela in our area.
She has chosen to be in Weld County.
Thank you for your time, and consideration as you look at the permit Angela has applied for.
If you have any questions, we are available.

Quotes about Angela Knopf -Castle training/mentorship program
I cannot express how much a difference Angela's program has made a difference in my daughte
life. While my daughter does receive top notch volleyball coaching and training, that's not why we
choose to take her to Angela; we could get that most anywhere. My daughter receives so much more
than just the tactical skills training. She receives mental toughness and motivational coaching that
has inspired my daughter in all aspects of her life. Since working with Angela, she has thrived in not
only volleyball, but also in her academic and social activities. This type of mentoring is extremely
rare, and equally hard to find. We feel it has become a necessary part of our daughter's life and
believe it should be for all young, female athletes. We hope and pray that you can take the positive
impact that Angela's program has on not only our daughter, but many, many young women; and
consider it in your negotiations and relationship with Angela.
-David and Stephanie Munro
Angela has worked with our daughter for over S years. Angela is more than a volleyball coach, she has been a
"life coach" for our daughter. Angela's knowledge of the game of volleyball is evident when you spend time
with her in the gym. As much as we appreciate how far she has helped our daughter's volleyball game, more
importantly, we appreciate Angela's help with our daughter's mental game! Angela relates to the young
women she is coaching and brings a Christian approach to life on and off the court. To say we Love Angela is
understatement! We would love to hear that Angela has secured a home to continue helping young ladies
become successful on and off the volleyball court.
-The Kaiser Family
"I have known Angela for about nine years and I would not be the player that I am today without her. She offers
a whole toolbox of skills for athletes to use to become smarter and better volleyball players. She gives athletes
the tools to be successful on and off the court and is a true leader for athletes everywhere. I have become more
knowledgeable about the game of volleyball and I would not have the accomplishments that I have today
without Angela Knopf'.
-Ali Travis
"To whom it may concern: Our family has known Angela for over 10 years. She has coached/taught
all three of our daughters. She has been an integral part of the success they achieved in the sport of
volleyball (our two older daughters are/were collegiate athletes). Her expertise in the sport is second
to none! However, what makes her so valuable is her gift of teaching, assessing and implementing
individual techniques to improve an athletes skills, personally tailored to the athlete. As if that wasn't
enough, she has mentored my daughters, not just in volleyball, but in all facets of their lives! She is a
spectacular mentor and lives by the highest standards! She has been able to guide and influence our
children a long side us! She is truly gifted in the area of teaching, and organization! She successfully
runs her program with integrity and precision and is a huge asset to our community! What she has to
provide to our community is unfound!"
- Stormy Lienemann
Angela Knopf -Castle is an extraordinary volleyball coach. Every time you step in the gym with her you are
guaranteed to learn something new, grow in your skills and even in your everyday life mentality. She has
fun with you while also coaching you and telling you what you can do better. I have been taking lessons
with her for many years and without her I would be nowhere near the player I am today. She has taught
me new skills and has given me confidence in my abilities. Her competitiveness is contagious and after
leaving the gym you are a new person. During her lessons you will work your butt off but have fun doing
it. Every time she gives you advice you better be listening because that advice will take you far. She is
very passionate about the game of volleyball and is very knowledgeable. Her own experiences with the
sport makes her one of the best coaches around. Without her my volleyball career would look very
different. Every week I look forward to getting in the gym with her and working on different skills.
Angela is an amazing coach and without her many volleyball players wouldn't be where they are now.
-Mackenzie Flikkema - 10th Grade - Resurrection Christian High School
I am writing this in hopes that you will continue to provide gym space to Angela Knopf. Angela has a gift and
she has been a God sent for my daughter and many others that I know. I like to think of her as the volleyball
whisperer. And she gets volleyball lessons, Angela provides so much more. She has been able to bring so
many smiles to the young girls in her life. I see the room light up when she walks in a room full of girls and
they all run to meet her. I have seen the level of play improve when they know she will be there watching
them. She brings out the best in them. They want to make her proud.
Young women need more positive input in their lives and Angela is able to fill that need for a lot of girls. She
has brought my timid, shy, quiet daughter to another level. She has helped her with her confidence and has
dramatically improved her play. Angela has truly been a blessing. She is patience, she is hard, she is
deliberate, and most of all she cares with all her heart. She does way more for girls than just improve their
volleyball skills. As I said before, young women need more positive input in their lives, and I could not think of
a better person for the job than Angela. She has a lasting impact on the girls she coaches.

"Angela Knopf is a very special friend and mentor to our daughter, Megan and loved by our entire family. Her
knowledge, character and guidance on and off the court is one that we are very grateful for and thank God for
each day. This isn't just about volleyball when you join her program! This is also about real life and the
guidance and love that she shows each player and family that she comes to know. Angela makes an impact in
young people's lives that they will take with them and use forever!"
—Susan Butters
Angela Knopf is an amazing person and coach and has positively affected the lives of many girls and
young women who have taken volleyball lessons from her. Angela has taken the knowledge and skill
she has obtained throughout her outstanding personal career as a volleyball player and become one
of the best volleyball coaches around. But, it's not just Angela's incredible ability to teach volleyball in
a way that makes the players understand and love the game, but also the life skills she works on with
the players. Angela teaches the girls the importance of hard work, dedication, teamwork, and most
importantly the need to support each other.
-Tracy Sawyer
Angela Knopf has forever changed the life of my daughter, Reese. When we first started coaching my goal was
just to have someone teach Reese how to hone her volleyball skills to help her get onto a better team in high
school. What I wasn't expecting is all of the other things she has learned besides volleyball. Angela doesn't just
coach volleyball; she coaches the whole girl, helping them with life skills as well as volleyball. Reese's volleyball
skills have dramatically improved because of Angela but the best part is seeing her self-confidence soar; how
she stands a little taller, believes in herself more, and how she is able to get out of her head and just enjoy the
moment and enjoy the game. This is why coaching with Angela has become so important to our family. She is
irreplaceable.
-Nancy Pursley
"My family has had the opportunity to work with Angela for about 5 years now because my daughters
confidence was struggling in a sport that is extremely competitive. Angela made the sport fun and
come to life for my daughter and I am forever grateful for the knowledge that she is giving
continually. Her depth of caring is unsurpassed in a coach and I consider her an exceptional role
model for my daughter! My daughter not only learns more about volleyball with Angela, but also
learns about life, character, strong work ethics and how to have fun while keeping sport in
perspective! We are happy to have Angela apart of our families "village" and hope to keep her in our
lives for years to come.
-Lori McWhinney
"Angela Knopf is an effective coach because she does more than teach volleyball mechanics and techniques.
She takes the time to also understand where players are at emotionally and mentally. Lessons on how to be a
good teammate, mentally tough, and coachable are entwined into every skill session. She instills the girls with
confidence and pushes them to be the best versions of themselves, while making it fun. When we drove away
from her first lesson with Angela three years ago, my daughter said, "Mom, with other lessons I have taken,
I'm tired afterward. But I don't necessarily feel like I'm any better. After working with Angela today, I'm tired,
and I know I'm better." That kind of coaching is valuable. "
- Kristen Christiansen
"Can't say enough positive words about Angela. We signed our daughter up to take volleyball lessons with her
in hopes of improving skills, but got so much more. Angela has a way of speaking into the lives of young women
and challenging their character without them actually realizing it all while teaching volleyball skills. Couldn't be
happier with what our daughter has learned and how she has grown as a player and even more as a person. We
tell everyone we know about Angela and couldn't love her more!!"
- Robin Watson
I am writing as a reference on behalf of Angela Knopf as a private volleyball coach. Angela models and expects
the young ladies who come to her for training to be respectful, positive, encouraging to others, competitive, and
hard-working. Entitlement has no place in Angela's lessons or clinics. My daughter has regularly taken part in
lessons and clinics with Angela over the past four years. She has absolutely grown her volleyball skills during
that time and expects to play at the collegiate level. Even more importantly, she has developed as a leader with
character and integrity and has become a valuable asset to her team, school, and community. Angela is a
fundamental role model for my daughter, and one of those people you want to speak into your daughter's life.
Most sincerely,
Janet McBride
Angela Knopf -Castle shares her knowledge and skills to develop volleyball players from the very
beginner to D1 collegiate level athletes. But more importantly, Angela truly loves each athlete she
coaches and mentors young girls into strong, beautiful women. Angela does this by investing her
time and her heart into each athlete and by truly caring about each of her program participants.
-Andrea Sheldon
"Angela Knopf coached all three of our daughters. With Angela, we found that our daughters received much
more than the best volleyball coaching in Northern Colorado, they received "life" coaching. Angela's
personality and style of coaching resonated with each of our daughters and pushed them to the next
level. They built confidence not only in volleyball skills but also themselves. We always knew when the
practice sessions were over as our daughters would come home walking on air, full of confidence and ready to
tackle anything life would throw at them. We are now in New Jersey, but try to take advantage of Angela's
coaching every time we are back in Colorado."
— Norman and Mary Parker
"I am taking this moment to paint a picture of our love for Angela Knopf. You see her investment in
our girls is different from many other coaches. She wants them to swing right and have a strong
foundations. However, it goes beyond that as players and fundamentals for her. She digs deeper
into their souls, their character, what makes them tick. She understands when to push and when to
gently give a hug! I personally have been in competitive sports awhile and seen many coaches some
great, some not so great. My respect for Angela as a person, as a coach, as a leader is very deep! "
-Angie Kopp
We have been blessed by knowing Angela Knopf in so many ways. To Angela, it's never only
about volleyball. It's about the whole person with her students.
Of course, her teaching style emphasizes methods, mechanics and techniques. Why we
believe she is such high demand for lessons is that she includes finding out about what makes
each girl tick, discussing the mental part of the game and prioritizes the character and integrity
of each girl. And they are always having fun which makes them truly anticipate their next
lesson.
In the volleyball world, our daughter has met and we have had the opportunity to observe
many coaches, staff and officials and I can truly say, people like Angela Knopf are truly rare.
She is successful because she offers so much more than just volleyball skills. Her high character
and professionalism truly sets her apart. We are positive that you will hear similar compliments
from others, as she is the same off the volleyball court as well.
-Dean and Lorraine Meyer
