Dear Miss Stubblefield,
This letter is in support of the High Plains Library District Friends and Foundation's (HPLDF&F)
submission for their new project to be included as an Enterprise Zone Contribution Project. HPLDF&F is
supporting the High Plains Library District (HPLD) on the project and is launching a capital campaign.
HPLD is redeveloping a property withing Enterprise Zone. The project is located at 501 8th Ave, Greeley,
CO 80631. The High Plains Library District is renovating the property, previously the Greeley Tribune
Building. The new project will be called LINC — Library Innovation Center. The project is 62,000 sq ft
facility will be a confluence of many different spaced, a public library, innovation center with hands on
exhibits and experiences and a events space. LINC will also be home to an interactive art installation by
the nationally renowned artist Wes Sam Bruce.
I am excited to see how LINC helps to drive innovation and creativity in the community. The innovation
space in the project will be dedicated to skills -based learning focusing on preparing the current and future
workforce with a hands-on introduction to the skills they will need. These spaces will be open to the public
and serve as an entry point for learning that can grow into further education and opportunities in the trades.
LINC will be of economic benefit to the Enterprise Zone and draw users from the broader City of Greeley
population and Weld County as a whole. In addition to this, the event space will add to downtown's ability
to host conferences and other larger scale events.
LINC will not only be a destination library, but a destination in the downtown area. Benefiting the
immediate surrounding community and drawing people from all around to visit. The direct economic impact
of the project is difficult to project but will be seen for years to come.
I believe in the impact that LINC will have on the community and economic development. HPLD has been
a great partner for the County and works closely with the Employment Services Department. I encourage
Upstate Colorado Economic Development to support the project and approve it as an Enterprise Zone
Contribution Project.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Steve Moreno
