HomeMy WebLinkAbout20221508.tiff1 `vii, PROCLAMATION GREELEY STAMPEDE DAYS JUNE 23 - JULY 4, 2022 WHEREAS, the Greeley Stampede is rich in tradition and heritage dating back to the late 1800s. The first official event in 1922 was called the Greeley Spud Rodeo to honor the local potato farmers. The community celebration has grown into an internationally acclaimed festival attracting more than 220,000 people annually from the United States and internationally; and WHEREAS, for the past 100 years, citizens of Weld County have gathered at Island Grove Park in late June through July 4t' to celebrate our nation's independence and preserve our western heritage; and WHEREAS, the Greeley Stampede strengthens our community by making a positive financial impact through donations, park improvements and tourism; and WHEREAS, Weld County has been a strong supporter of the Greeley Stampede with park improvements, offering employee engagement opportunities and by encouraging citizens to partake in the annual community celebration; and WHEREAS, the year 2022 marks the historic 100th Greeley Stampede. The centennial celebration will feature 12 days of music, rodeo, carnival, festival food and plenty of affordable family fun. Citizens of Weld County are encouraged to celebrate 100 years of the Greeley Stampede this summer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that June 23 through July 4, 2022 be known as Greeley Stampede Days. BOARD O COUNTY COMMISSIONERS /L/ colt K.
