RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
MINUTES OF A MEETING WITH THE
BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES IN WELD COUNTY
The meeting convened at 9c05 a.m. on Monday, February 11, with the following
present; Mr. Harry S. Ashley, Chairman, Mr. Glenn K. Billings, Member of the
Board, Mr. Eugene McKenna, Director of the Weld County Department of Social
Services, and Mrs. Hermansen, secretary to Mr. McKenna.
The January 31, 1974 Caseload Status Report was distributed and discussed. The
increased number of applications received for Aid to Dependent Children, Unem-
ployed Fathers will not be acted upon till February because of the thirty-day
waiting period required by State rules. A net increase in this category is ex-
pected for February because of rising unemployment. There has also been an in-
crease in households purchasing Food Stamps with unemployment being the most
significant reason for this. The decrease in the number of Old Age Pension and
Aid to the Needy Disabled cases has occurred because of the impact of the Federal
Supplemental Security Income (S.S.I.) program. About 135 individuals were dropped
from the regular Old Age Pension and Aid to the Needy Disabled programs because of
their S.S.I. income.
Mr. McKenna stated that some of his staff have been working overtime on the increase
for Old Age Pensioners from a maximum of $155 to $165 per month.
Mr. McKenna told the Board that the Department might move into their new building
February 15 and 16, though it may not be until February 22 and 23. The Board asked
that the Department not make this move until they (the Board) have had a chance to
inspect the building. Mr. Box had said that some of the necessary changes could
be made, he felt, after staff is occupying the building.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9c25 a.m.
