RECOGNITION OF RETIREMENT
CATHY SCHULTE
In the course of one's career, there is the opportunity to make positive and lasting contributions to not only your business or agency but
also your customers — or in this case — a community.
Cathy Schulte has spent the past 35 years at Upstate Colorado making the Weld County community stronger through her positive and
lasting work.
It is an honor to review and celebrate Cathy and her accomplishments before she starts a new chapter in her life — well-earned retirement.
• Over the course of Cathy's career with Upstate, beginning in 1986, Weld County has grown tremendously - from 131,715
residents to over 330,000. The labor force has grown from 59,044 to 171,716 workers, and the average annual wage increased
292%.
• Within just the past 10 years of working with support of the county, Cathy assisted 30 companies through personal property
tax incentives totaling more than $12,000,000.
• The work Cathy completed at Upstate promoting and marketing Weld County has brought in major primary employers
supporting our key agriculture, energy, food processing, and manufacturing industries.
• Notable companies that have located in Weld County during Cathy's employment include: O-1, Vestas, Leprino, and Smuckers.
• Cathy worked thousands of leads during her 35 years, including 530 actual attraction and expansion/retention projects resulting
in nearly 28,000 net new jobs and $9B in investment.
• As the Weld County Administrator of the State Enterprise Zone, Cathy assisted in providing more than $165M in tax credits,
bringing $9B in corporate investment, and more than 15,000 new jobs to rural areas throughout the county.
The successes Cathy achieved during her time here are not hers alone. Her accomplishments and successful dealings have helped
strengthen and diversify Weld County's economy and has allowed this county to continue to prosper for the good of all residents and
businesses alike. And because of that, the Board of Weld County Commissioners would like to personally thank her for her time, her
dedication, and her positive and lasting contributions. We wish you the best!
Sincerely,
BOARD pF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
