evolving in its role as an important member of the criminal justice community; and
WHEREAS, access to quality forensic analysis dramatically improves the investigation of criminal
activity, leading to the exoneration of the innocent and the prosecution of the guilty; and
WHEREAS, crime scene investigators, forensic examiners and forensic scientists provide
unbiased, accurate and reliable analyses of evidence recovered from across the nation; and
WHEREAS, Weld County created the Northern Colorado Regional Forensic Laboratory in
collaboration with Larimer County, Ft. Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and Colorado Bureau of
Investigations law enforcement agencies to work together to provide this vital public service; and
WHEREAS, since combining in August 2013, the Northern Colorado Regional Forensic
Laboratory has completed more than 25,000 reports in the combined disciplines of Digital Media,
Forensic Biology, Drug Chemistry, Laten Prints and Firearms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
September 18-24, 2022 be known as National Forensic Science Week and urge all residents to
express their appreciation for the people, facilities and technologies that make reliable forensic
science possible in our community.
