Dear Sir:
The Weld County Agricultural Council has received complaints
Rooky of the methods used by the Bureau in the building of the Weld
', ii Archer Transmission Line in Weld County. We have been informed
that work on the line is now causing damages to growing crops,
that pole locations have been staked over irrigation tile
WELD COUNTY lines, irrigation has been impaired by destruction of existing
FARM BUREAU irrigation ditches and in no case has anyone attempted to
t _ contact the landowner or tenant in advance of the damages.
in `%'•• We would like to recommend that the following procedures be
implemented immediately.
1. That an appraiser be sent out immediately to contact all
+ COUNTY
landowners and tenants and an agreement be made on how
WELD
y LIVESTOCK ASSOCIATION damages are to be settled. The agreement to state at
what rate and when the payment is to be made and to be in
writing.
WELD COUNTY 2. Irrigation is the lifeblood of those farming and crops
TAXPAYERS' ASSOCIATION depend upon it. That every effort be made to keep from
interfering with the irrigations systems in use. That
. .f,,' the engineers putting in the system contact the farmers
concerned and try to work out a mutual staisfactory way
l' to hold damages to a minimum.
`. 3. That the Bureau try to improve its image by seeing that
- its personnel treat landowner; courteously.
Yours truly,

Re: Archer-Weld Transmission Line
•
Dear Sir:
It has been brought to our attention that in the construction of
the Archer—Weld Transmission line there seems to be considerable
disregard for the welfare of the farmers.
•
There have been too many instances in which needless damage to
irrigation systems and crops occurred, which would indicate that
the Bureau has no intention of trying to cooperate or help the
farmers with the problems created by construction of this line.
The North Weld Chamber of Commerce feels that the Bureau should
be concerned with the farmer's difficulties, 'and would recommend
that each farmer be contacted in advance of actual construction
with a view toward minimizing damage to crops and irrigation
systems.
Yours very truly,
North Wel ha oer of ommerc://)
