There isn't a grant, per say. Holly was referencing available funds through the TANF Block Grant. We operate a number of youth crews, some of which are fully aligned with the TANF Block Grant. We are projected to be underspent again this program year, ending June 30th. If we were able to acquire two vans to support the TANF related crews, that would be a huge benefit at a time when there happens to be more than sufficient funds to do so. With HB22-1259 still pending, we are not confident that we may have this same luxury in future years. I believe Holly and Karina met with David to discuss this possibility. My understanding is that new vans would likely not be an option however, there are some vendors with existing County relationships who may have used vehicles that could be available for purchase timelier. The Youth Corps historically maximizes the life expectancy of each vehicle; at least one current vehicle has reached "end of life" status. If all the stars were to align, this would be a good opportunity to acquire a couple of vehicles that would serve Youth Corps well for years to come. Additionally, elections borrow a few vans each year to support election related activities. They could have ongoing access to the older vehicles and not have a need to coordinate with Youth Corps, or to remove seats, to meet their needs during elections. We do however recognize the time constraints and realize we may not be able to locate vehicles within this program year.
