HomeMy WebLinkAbout20220671.tiffRESOLUTION RE: APPROVE AFFILIATION AGREEMENT FOR FAMILY PLANNING AND LONG -ACTING REVERSIBLE CONTRACEPTION (LARC) CLINICAL TRAINING AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - DENVER HEALTH AND HOSPITAL AUTHORITY WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Affiliation Agreement for Family Planning and Long -Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) Clinical Training between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Public Health and Environment, and Denver Health and Hospital Authority, commencing January 19, 2022, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said agreement, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Affiliation Agreement for Family Planning and Long -Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) Clinical Training between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Public Health and Environment, and Denver Health and Hospital Authority, be, and hereby is, approved. The Family Planning program offers contraceptive counseling and LARC insertion and removal procedures. The training offered to WCDPHE staff pursuant to this Affiliation Agreement is for Colorado licensed, practicing providers and provides one-on-one training aimed at strengthening skills for our Nurse Practitioners. This is a no -cost Affiliation Agreement that will commence on January 19, 2022, and shall automatically renew for successive one (1) year terms for a maximum of 3 years. Either party may terminate this Agreement upon thirty (30) days advance written notice. This Affiliation Agreement has been reviewed by the Weld County Attorneys' office and it meets with their approval. The Board approved placement of this Affiliation Agreement on the Board's agenda via pass -around dated February 22, 2022. (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options): Accepting this Agreement will allow WCDPHE to continue to deliver high -quality Family Planning services to our clients. This no -cost training opportunity also aligns with our Workforce Development goals and strategies. Declining this Agreement will result in the loss of this high -quality, no -cost training opportunity for our Nurse Practitioners working in of Family Planning program. Alternatively, to obtain this quality of training, we would likely need to contract with another entity that would come with a significant cost. James, Chair Steve Moreno Lori Saine DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 AFFILIATION AGREEMENT This Affiliation Agreement is entered into this day of,( 2022, (the "Effective Date") by and between DENVER HEALTH AND HOSPITAL AUTHORITY, a body corporate and political subdivision of the State of Colorado, with offices located at 601 Broadway Street, MC 1919, Denver, Colorado, 80203 (hereinafter, "DHHA") and Weld County Department of Public Health & Environment with offices located at 1555 North 17th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631 (hereinafter, "Health Center") (individually, a "Party" and collectively, the "Parties"). RECITALS WHEREAS, DHHA is the owner and operator of Denver Health Medical Center and various community health clinics in Denver, Colorado that provide inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services; and WHEREAS, Health Center provides health care services to patients in a rural and/or under - served area and desires to offer to its patients family planning services including long -acting reversible contraceptives (LARC); and WHEREAS, a mission of DHHA is to participate in the education of the next generation of health care professionals; and WHEREAS, DHHA has received a grant to provide training to licensed providers on LARC services in order to ensure LARC is made available as a contraceptive option to patients in rural and/or under -served areas; and WHEREAS, for the purpose of furthering the following objectives of the Parties, Health Center shall send to DHHA specified health care providers employed or contracted by Health Center who desire to receive instruction and clinical experiences regarding LARC services (hereinafter, "Trainee"); and WHEREAS, the objectives of the Parties include, but are not limited to: 1) Providing a clinical experience for Trainees of Health Center; 2) Enhancing the overall education program of Health Center; 3) Increasing contacts between community experts/practitioners; and 4) Operating a Clinical Education Program; NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing premises and the covenants and agreements hereinafter set forth, Health Center and DHHA agree as follows: 1. GENERAL INFORMATION: a. This Affiliation Agreement governs the LARC Clinical Education Program at DHHA for Trainees employed by or contracted with Health Center and licensed in the State of Colorado as advance practice nurses, physician assistants, or physicians. The course of instruction 1 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 (hereinafter, the "Clinical Education Program") shall cover a term as mutually agreed upon in writing between the Parties from time -to -time as necessary. b. The term for each individual Trainee's clinical education shall be mutually agreed upon at least 14 days prior to the start of the Clinical Education Program, and shall be set forth in writing between the Parties. DHHA is not obligated to accept Trainees on a continuous basis, or to accept more than one Trainee at any time. Scheduling of Trainees' training rotations is subject to the approval of DHHA and the appropriate Clinical Education Program Director. c. The number of Trainees eligible to participate in the Clinical Education Program and the number of hours required of the Clinical Instructor for the Clinical Education Program shall be mutually determined by written agreement between the Parties from time -to -time as necessary. d. It is agreed by both Parties that there shall be no discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disability. 2. RESPONSIBILITIES OF HEALTH CENTER: a. At least 14 days prior to the start of the Trainees' participation in a Clinical Education Program, Health Center shall send to DHHA the name of each Trainee along with evidence of compliance with the terms of this Affiliation Agreement on forms provided by DHHA (hereinafter, the "Attestation Letter"). Health Center shall be responsible for supplying appropriate additional information required by DHHA prior to the arrival of Trainees, and within the confines of law. b. Health Center shall assign to DHHA only those Trainees who are in good standing at Health Center and have an active, unrestricted license in the State of Colorado to practice as either a certified nurse midwife (CNM), nurse practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or Physician. c. Health Center shall designate an individual to coordinate with a designee of DHHA the assignment(s) to be undertaken by each Trainee participating in the Clinical Education Program. d. Health Center shall assist DHHA in enforcing rules and regulations established by DHHA, insofar as those rules and regulations apply to each Trainees participating in the Clinical Education Program. e. Health Center will provide general training in infection control, standard precautions and HIPAA compliance to all Trainees. Training in infection control and standard precautions will comply with The Joint Commission and OSHA requirements for health care workers. HIPAA compliance training should cover topics of concern to health care workers working with patients' protected health information. 2 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 f. Prior to assignment of any Trainees under this Affiliation Agreement, Health Center shall provide evidence via the Attestation Letter that each participating Trainee has: a. An active, unrestricted license to practice medicine or advance practice nursing in the State of Colorado. b. Immune status for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella, and has completed immunization for Hepatitis B or has a letter of declination on file. For measles, mumps, and rubella, Health Center shall provide evidence of two doses of MMR vaccine (if born on or after 1957) or one dose of MMR vaccine (if born before 1957), or positive measles, mumps, and rubella titers. c. Trainees that work with children 12 months or age and younger shall be required to furnish information about immunizations and booster protection against pertussis (Tdap vaccine). d. Had a PPD test in the past year. If any participating Trainee has a past history of a positive TB skin test, Health Center shall provide evidence that an annual assessment has been done to rule out active tuberculosis. e. Received an annual influenza vaccination or has a letter of declination on file. Seasonal influenza vaccination is required for all Trainees rotating at DHHA between October and March of each year. Acceptable contraindications for influenza are limited to documented medical or religious circumstances. 3. RESPONSIBILITIES OF DHHA: a. DHHA shall maintain complete records and reports on each Trainee's performance and shall provide an evaluation to Health Center on forms provided by Health Center, if requested. b. Subject to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, DHHA may request Health Center to withdraw or dismiss from the Clinical Education Program any Trainee whose performance is unsatisfactory, whose personal characteristics prevent desirable working relationships with DHHA, or whose health status is a detriment to the Trainee's successful completion of the Clinical Education Program. The withdrawal, dismissal, or removal of a Trainee, in accordance with the provisions of this Affiliation Agreement, shall not affect continuation of this Affiliation Agreement or the continued training of other Trainees enrolled and participating in the Clinical Education Program. c. DHHA will provide one or more Clinical Instructors for each clinical rotation to supervise clinical health experiences for Trainees of Health Center at DHHA. The Clinical Instructor shall at all times during the term of this Agreement be a registered professional, licensed to practice under the laws of the State of Colorado. Clinical Instructor will schedule and assign Trainees to clinical experiences, supervise Trainees' clinical experiences, act as a liaison between DHHA, and coordinate clinical experiences with Health Center facility. d. DHHA shall provide supervised programs of clinical experience in conjunction with, and subject to the approval of Health Center, with the understanding that such supervision shall be carried out in accordance with standards established for clinical practice. 3 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 e. Both Parties understand that the care of patients at DHHA is ultimately the responsibility of DHHA employees. With this responsibility comes the expectation that DHHA employees will provide supervision to any health professional Trainee or trainee whose clinical education involves providing aspects of care to DHHA patients Trainees are responsible for knowing who is supervising their activities at DHHA at all times. DHHA employees cannot assign or delegate ultimate responsibility for any component of patient care to any Trainee of Health Center. Even when Health Center provides on -site instructors to assist in Trainees' education, a DHHA employee or employees will have ultimate responsibility for patient care and for the care provided by trainees. 4. RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRAINEE: Health Center shall notify each Trainee participating in the Clinical Education Program that he/she is responsible for: a. Following the administrative policies, standards, practices, and procedures of DHHA while training with DHHA; b. Contacting DHHA's Clinical Coordinator(s) to assist in developing proposed learning objectives, time schedules, and reporting requirements; c. Participating in all orientation activities prescribed by DHHA and the DHHA Clinical Education Coordinator while at DHHA; d. Purchasing and/or providing the required and appropriate uniforms, not otherwise provided by DHHA; e. Transportation to and from DHHA, and all living arrangements; f. Reporting to DHHA on time and following all established rules and regulations during the regularly scheduled operating hours of DHHA; and g. Obtaining prior written approval of DHHA and Health Center before publishing any material relating to the clinical education experience. 5. PAYMENT: DHHA has received a grant to cover the cost of providing the training services contemplated under this Agreement. As such, no moneys shall be exchanged between the Parties for the services herein. 6. ADDITIONAL TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT: a. TERM AND TERMINATION: This Affiliation Agreement shall commence as of the Effective Date and shall automatically renew for successive one (1) -year terms, for a maximum of 3 years: subject to the following: (i) Either party may terminate this Affiliation Agreement upon thirty (30) days advance written notice provided in accordance with the "NOTICES" provision herein. 4 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-4982-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 Trainees then assigned to DHHA will be permitted to complete any previously scheduled clinical assignment then in progress with DHHA. (ii) Any party may immediately terminate this Affiliation Agreement for cause, or upon breach by any other party of any material provision hereof. (iii) This Affiliation Agreement shall automatically terminate if either Party fails to maintain, in good standing, its licensure, certification, or accreditation governing its operation. The party which fails to maintain or loses its licensure, certification, or accreditation shall immediately inform the other party, in writing, of the failure to maintain or loss of licensure, certification, or accreditation. b. GOVERNING LAW/VENUE: This Affiliation Agreement is entered into and construed according to the laws of the State of Colorado. Venue for any action under this Affiliation Agreement shall be in the appropriate court of competent jurisdiction located in Denver, Colorado. c. STATUS OF PARTIES: The Parties acknowledge that they operate independently. Neither the Health Center, nor any of its agents, representatives, Trainee, or employees shall be considered agents, representatives, Trainees, or employees of DHHA. Neither DHHA, nor any of its agents, representatives, Trainees, or employees shall be considered agents, representatives, Trainees, or employees of Health Center. In no event shall this Affiliation Agreement be construed as establishing a partnership or joint venture or similar relationship between the Parties. Each party shall be liable for its own debts, obligations, acts, and omissions. HEALTH CENTER, ITS INSTRUCTORS, TEACHERS, PROFESSORS, EMPLOYEES, AND TRAINEES UNDERSTAND THAT IT AND THEY ARE NOT ENTITLED TO UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS, WORKERS' COMPENSATION BENEFITS OR ANY FRINGE BENEFITS FROM DHHA. d. CONFIDENTIALITY OF RECORDS: (i) Health Center, its faculty, and Trainees agree to keep strictly confidential and hold in trust all confidential medical/educational information, the identity of DHHA clients/patients, and information concerning the business operations of DHHA. Such confidential information shall not be disclosed and no such information may be removed from DHHA premises. Health Center, its faculty, and its Trainees agree not to disclose or reveal any such information without the express prior written consent of DHHA's administration, unless otherwise required by law. (ii) Health Center and Trainees shall retain in strictest confidence all information provided by DHHA. Health Center and Trainees may use and disclose protected health information provided to Health Center and/or Trainees by DHHA only as provided in this Affiliation Agreement or as required by law. Health Center, its Trainee, employees, staff, agents, and representatives shall not use or further disclose information in a manner that would violate state or federal law or regulations, including, but not limited to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 ("HIPAA"). 5 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 e. COLORADO GOVERNMENTAL IMMUNITY ACT: The Parties hereto understand and agree DHHA and the Health Center are relying upon, and have not waived, the monetary limitations (presently $387,000 for any injury to one person in any single occurrence and $1,093,000 for any injury to two or more persons in any single occurrence) and all other rights, immunities and protections provided by the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act, C.R.S. § 24-10-101, et seq. £ INSURANCE: (i) Denver Health and Hospital Authority shall ensure that all Trainees assigned under this Affiliation Agreement have obtained, and/or are covered by professional liability insurance in the amounts required by law. (ii) Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes §8-40-302(7)(b), Denver Health and Hospital Authority shall provide workers' compensation insurance covering Trainees, and shall also provide employer's liability insurance covering Trainee. Both coverages shall be provided to the extent required by law (out-of-state policies must contain an All States Endorsement verifying that coverage pertains to Colorado. The policies shall also contain a waiver of subrogation in favor of DHHA. Denver Health and Hospital Authority shall provide comprehensive professional general liability insurance covering Trainees while conducting activities in DHHA facilities under the auspices of this Affiliation Agreement. Such comprehensive professional general liability insurance shall be in at least the following amounts: One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) per incident/occurrence, and Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000.00) in the aggregate, coverage through the Federal Tort Claims Act. (iii) Health Center shall require that all Trainees referred to DHHA under this Affiliation Agreement carry health insurance coverage under Health Center's health insurance program or policy, or under a comparable accident and sickness health insurance plan. Trainees who become ill while at DHHA will be provided initial medical or emergency treatment as appropriate, for which DHHA will be reimbursed by the Trainee for all reasonable amounts expended on behalf of the Trainee. g. BACKGROUND CHECKS: (i) Health Center will conduct criminal background checks on all Trainees who are participating in a clinical learning experience at DHHA. Health Center agrees to submit an Attestation to DHHA verifying that each Trainee's criminal background check is acceptable according to the Joint Commission Standards and the standards outlined below prior to the Trainee's arrival at DHHA, or at the beginning of each academic term for the Trainees coming for training that term. (ii) Criminal background checks must review the Trainee's criminal history seven (7) years previous to the start date of the Trainee's clinical experience at DHHA. At a 6 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 minimum, the criminal background check should consist of a criminal check in the State of Colorado and other counties outside of Colorado in which the Trainee has lived during the last seven years, Sexual Offender Registry, maiden name/AKA name search, and online searches of the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Excluded Individuals Report (available at http://www.oig.hhs.gov/exclusions/exclusions list.asp). If a Trainee will be working with mental health patients under age 18, Health Center must also perform Central Registry for Child Protection and CBI checks as required by Colorado regulation. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Trainee must sign a form to authorize a criminal background check and release of information to both Health Center and DHHA representatives. (iii) The following criminal histories will disqualify a Trainee from participating in a clinical experience at DHHA: • Convictions/deferred adjudications involving crimes against persons (physical or sexual abuse, neglect, assault, murder, etc.), • Convictions related to moral turpitude (prostitution, public lewdness/exposure, etc.), • Convictions/deferred adjudications related to the sale, possession, distribution, or transfer of narcotics or controlled substances. • Registered sex offenders. Any other types of felony convictions or questionable histories must be reviewed with DHHA's Office of General Counsel. DHHA reserves the right to prohibit or dismiss a Trainee from a clinical learning experience at DHHA based on the findings of a criminal background check. (v) Information contained in the background check shall remain confidential and shall be released only to Health Center and DHHA. The Trainee making the release has a legal right to review information contained in the background check report. DHHA cannot, and by this Affiliation Agreement does not, agree to indemnify, hold harmless, exonerate or assume the defense of Health Center or any other person or entity whatsoever, for any purpose whatsoever. The Health Center cannot, and by this Affiliation Agreement does not, agree to indemnify, hold harmless, exonerate or assume the defense of DHHA or any other person or entity whatsoever, of any purpose whatsoever. 8. JOINT COMMISSION: The terms of this paragraph shall apply only to the extent that Trainees provide services in the same capacity as DHHA staff when they provide patient care and treatment or as otherwise required by current Joint Commission Standards. Health Center shall provide Trainees who shall act within the scope of the current Joint Commission standards. DHHA shall provide Health Center with those Joint Commission standards applicable to its Trainees and Health Center will provide its Trainees with all necessary pre - 7 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 participation orientation required by these standards. Health Center shall maintain evidence for every Trainee that he or she has met these pre -participation requirements, which Health Center shall provide to DHHA prior to Trainees beginning training at DHHA. Health Center shall provide Trainees whose level of competence is appropriate for assigned responsibilities. As appropriate, DHHA may provide Trainees with organization -wide, departmental, and job - specific orientations. DHHA's orientation programs may include orientation to its mission, vision and values, commitment to quality patient care and performance improvement program, hospital -wide policies and procedures, fire and electrical safety training, patient rights and other ethical aspects of care, treatment, and services, cultural diversity, and departmental policies and procedures and job - specific duties and responsibilities. DHHA shall periodically evaluate the competency of Trainees who provide services under this Agreement. Such evaluation shall include a determination as to whether the services are being provided in accordance with the requirements of this Agreement. Trainees who fail the evaluation may be removed from DHHA. 9. NO THIRD PARTY BENEFICIARIES: Enforcement of the terms of this Affiliation Agreement, and all rights of action relating to such enforcement, shall be strictly reserved to the Parties, and nothing contained in this Affiliation Agreement shall give or allow any such claim or right of action by any other or third person. Any person other than a Party to this Affiliation Agreement receiving services or benefits hereunder shall be deemed to be an incidental beneficiary only. 10. NOTICES: Notices concerning the termination of this Affiliation Agreement, notice of any alleged or actual violation of the terms or provisions of this Affiliation Agreement, and other notices shall be provided to the Parties at the following addresses: If to DHHA: Denver Health and Hospital Authority Office of Education 601 Broadway, MC 0278 Denver, Colorado 80203 If to Health Center: Weld County Department of Public Health & Environment 1555 North 17th Avenue Greeley, CO 80631 Said notice shall be delivered personally during normal business hours to the appropriate office above, or mailed by the U.S. Postal Service. Mailed notice shall be deemed effective three (3) days after deposit with the U.S. Postal Service. 11. COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL/STATE LAWS, REGULATIONS, AND REQUIREMENTS: a. The Parties will each comply with all applicable statutes, laws, rules, regulations, licenses, certificates, and authorizations of any governmental body or authority in the performance or carrying out of its obligations under this Affiliation Agreement. This Affiliation Agreement shall be subject to amendments of the applicable laws and regulations relating to the subject matter of this Affiliation Agreement. In the event any amendment to the 8 Affiliation Agreement — LARC Training DocuSign Envelope ID: 351 B0F4C-6568-49B2-8685-2B8DDE9D05D0 applicable laws and regulations creates an inconsistency with the terms of this Affiliation Agreement, the Parties shall use their best efforts to accommodate both the terms and intent of this Affiliation Agreement and such amendments. b. Each party will obtain and maintain current and in force all licenses, accreditation, certifications, authorizations and/or permits (and will pay the fees therefore) necessary to carry out its duties and responsibilities under this Affiliation Agreement. c. The Parties intend that this Affiliation Agreement be implemented solely for the purpose of making quality medical -related educational services and training available to Trainees. Nothing in this Affiliation Agreement is intended to apply to or affect the availability of any health care services in any community, excepting only as those services may be provided by or to persons directly involved in the educational and training experiences of Trainees in the Clinical Education Programs. d. Health Center and Trainees shall maintain evidence of professional licensure and current clinical competence, which shall be provided to DHHA upon request. e. NO REQUIREMENTS OR INDUCEMENT TO REFER. It is not a purpose of this Agreement to induce the referral of patients. The parties acknowledge and agree that there is no requirement under this Agreement or any other agreement or arrangement between DHHA and Health Center that Health Center refer any patient to DHHA for products or services. This Agreement covers all services being provided by DHHA to Health Center and contemplates only the provision of services by the DHHA to Health Center on the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement and in return for the compensation specified in this Agreement. The terms and conditions of this Agreement represent the result of arms -length negotiations between unaffiliated parties. The parties acknowledge and agree that such services do not involve the counseling or promotion of a business arrangement or other activity that violates any federal, state, or local law, and the aggregate services to be provided under this Agreement do not and will not exceed those that are reasonably necessary to accomplish the commercially reasonable business purposes and the legitimate medical and educational purposes of this arrangement. This provision shall survive the termination of this Agreement. 12. AGREEMENT AS COMPLETE INTEGRATION AND AMENDMENTS: This document, together with any Exhibits attached hereto, constitutes the full understanding of the Parties with respect to the subject matter hereof. More than 65 providers have since completed the one-on-one program, strengthening skills in contraceptive counseling and LARC insertion & removal procedures. We are continuing the program in 2022-23 and have the capacity to provide hands-on clinical training to licensed providers (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physicians). Priority is given to providers employed with Colorado federally qualified health centers and/or other safety - net health systems who are prepared to serve as a clinical resource to providers at their home clinic. There is no cost for trainees to attend, as the initiative is grant -supported at this time. Ideal candidates should have/be: • Willing to train other providers in their clinical setting • Licensed to practice in the state of Colorado • Completed Nexplanon® certification • Less than 10 years into their clinical practice • Providing direct patient care 70-100% time • LARC methods available to patients onsite at their home clinic Each trainee will receive training resources by email and/or in -person including: • Contraceptive and client -centered counseling resources (e.g., U.S. MEC, PATH Framework) • Self -study online resources re: counseling and skill techniques, reproductive justice, CDPHE training, and CO Family Planning Initiative • Informatioi on obtaining CME/CNE credits • Pre and post -training online survey • IUD training kits for use at home clinic (available 1st day of training) Trainees not yet certified in Nexplanon® should connect with a Merck representative to arrange their training before coming to the DH course (contact Sarah Bradley s.bradlev@organon.com or s.bradlev merck.aom for information). In addition to performing LARC procedures with the trainer present, trainees will participate in the entire patient visit to obtain skills in contraceptive counseling and informed consent. The baseline knowledge and skill set of each trainee will be taken November 2021 into consideration. Hands-on experience will be tailored to individual needs with the goal of each trainee feeling prepared to provide LARC procedures, counsel patients on the full range of contraceptive methods, and serve as a clinical resource to peers upon returning to their practice. Trainer Sarah Warsh, WHNP Family Planning Clinical Coordinator Ms. Warsh is a board -certified nurse practitioner who serves as Denver Health's Family Planning Clinical Coordinator. She is certified as a Nexplanon® instructor and has provided hands-on LARC insertion & removal training to licensed providers, residents and medical / nursing students since 2012. Ms. Warsh completed her Master's degree at Columbia University and was a nurse practitioner in the OB/GYN department at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. Prior to joining Denver Health, she provided OB/GYN and family planning services with Pinnacle Women's Healthcare in Parker.
