MEMORIAL DAY - MAY 30, 2022
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners wishes to join the citizens of Weld
County in honoring Weld County's fallen heroes of the Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, in May 1868, Major General John A. Logan called for a nationwide day of
remembrance to pay tribute to those who gave their lives serving our country, which would
officially be designated Memorial Day by Congress; and
WHEREAS, members of our Armed Forces not only continue to work toward peace and
prosperity in the world but also have sacrificed their lives to maintain the security of our great
nation and preserve the liberties we hold so dear; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
Monday, May 30, 2022, be known as Memorial Day. We ask that Weld County residents pledge
to never forget the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defending our freedoms
and express gratitude to the families of our fallen warriors.
