HomeMy WebLinkAbout20221947.tiffRESOLUTION RE: APPROVE APPLICATION FOR SMALL BUSINESS INCENTIVE PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZE RELEASE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TRUST FUNDS (TIER I) - HIGH 5 TUTORING, LLC, C/O ANGELA KNOPF-CASTLE WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Application for the Small Business Incentive Program and a request for the Release of Economic Development Trust Funds (Tier I) from High 5 Tutoring, LLC, c/o Angela Knopf -Castle, to the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Planning Services, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said application, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said application, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, and release the Economic Development Trust Funds (Tier I), in the amount of $18,680.85, payable to High 5 Tutoring, LLC, c/o Angela Knopf -Castle, to offset various impact fees incurred and previously paid by High 5 Tutoring, LLC, c/o Angela Knopf -Castle. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Application for the Small Business Incentive Program and a request for the Release of Economic Development Trust Funds (Tier I) from High 5 Tutoring, LLC, c/o Angela Knopf -Castle, to the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Planning Services, be, and hereby is, approved. High 5 Tutoring, c/o Angela Knopf -Castle July 1, 2022 I am pleased to submit to the Board of County Commissioners an SBIP for High 5 Tutoring. This small business operates a volleyball practice and training facility High 5 Tutoring is a small business operating in unincorporated Weld County with one (1) employee. The one (1) employee is also the business owner, Angela Knopf -Castle. As part of the application requirements, the owner submitted their business plan and met with representatives from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Jeff Engle reviewed the business plan and found it satisfactory. Attached is the confirmation email from the SBDC. The Small Business Incentive Plan was created by the County Commissioners to help offset land, building permit, septic and impact fees associated with development. Below is a breakdown of the fees: Land Use Fee: Building Permit Fee(s): Impact Fees Septic Permit Fee: Total $2,500.00 $9,328.45 $8,402.40 $950.00 $21,180.85 According to the Small Business Application requirements, the business falls under Tier 1 and is eligible to receive up to $20,000. The business is obligated to cover the first $2,500.00. The Planning Services Director recommends approval of this application and respectfully requests that the County Commissioners authorize and release $18,680.85 from the Economic Development Fund.
