WELD COUNTY ADOPTION DAY - NOVEMBER 18, 2022
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners recognizes the importance of giving children
and youth who have suffered the impact of abuse and neglect, permanent, safe and loving families
through adoption; and
WHEREAS, more than 17 children and youth in Weld County have been adopted so far this year
and an estimated 10 additional children will be adopted by the end of this year; and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Human Services will celebrate Weld County Adoption
Day on Friday, November 18th, 2022 with a special day of adoption hearings (in association with
National Adoption Month) to finalize the adoptions of local children and join other organizations to
celebrate all adoptions; and
WHEREAS, we recognize that when Weld County community members step up to provide both
kinship care and foster care for children and youth needing these temporary placement services, we
are more likely to also be able to meet the permanency needs for every child and youth who need
an adoptive family; and
WHEREAS, Weld County Department of Human Services Post Adoption Support, known as Family
Forever, strives to provide families a safe place to receive support and obtain resources to help
strengthen their adoptive family and ensure the well-being of all members of the household. All
families who have adopted children (through any type of adoption) and live in Weld County, and
families who have adopted from the Weld County Child Welfare system and live elsewhere, are
eligible for Family Forever services; and
WHEREAS, Family Forever Post Adoption Support recently started a monthly newsletter to more
effectively reach our community with these supports and resources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
November 18, 20022 be known as Weld County Adoption Day, and urge all citizens to join in the
national effort to raise awareness about the importance of adoption.
