WHEREAS, between 18 to 19 million veterans live in the United States, with around 17,000 calling Weld
County home; and
WHEREAS, we are eternally grateful for all who've served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and
Coast Guard. Because of their service and sacrifice, we're able to enjoy many freedoms that make the American
way of life special. The defense of our nation and the Constitution is heroic, and the military service of our
servicemen and women must never be forgotten; and
WHEREAS, while it's impossible to ever fully repay our veterans, we're proud to offer services that assist them
in different ways. Veterans Service Officers within the Weld County Department of Veterans Services aid
veterans and their families in the process of applying for VA benefits related to military service; and
WHEREAS, the impact of this effort is reflected in numbers. In fiscal year 2021, Weld County veterans received
over $171 million in funding from the VA — more than a $14 million increase from fiscal year 2020. This year,
Veterans Services has 6,700 active veterans case files, providing correspondence related to them through
email, in -office visits and by mailing benefit packages. Staff has also fielded 4,489 office calls since January 1;
and
WHEREAS, eligible veterans and their spouses can also receive priority job training and placement through
Employment Services of Weld County. Employment Services can also connect eligible veterans and their families
with the "Jobs for State Program" to align veterans and their skill sets with career opportunities throughout

NOW, THEREFORE, let it be known that in honor of Veterans Day, November 11, 2022, the Weld County
Board of Commissioners wishes to thank our veterans for their sacrifice to our nation, and we call upon Weld
County citizens to do the same. By honoring our veterans, we reaffirm our belief in, and strong appreciation
for, the United States Constitution and all who've fought to defend it.
