PLATTE VALLEY BRONCOS DAY
MONDAY, APRIL 25, 2022
WHEREAS, the Platte Valley Broncos girls basketball team played the University Bulldogs in the
Class 3A state championship game on Saturday, March 12, at Denver University's Hamilton
Gymnasium; and
WHEREAS, Junior Andi Schissler led the Broncos with 22 points, while her sister, senior Cora
Schissler, added 19. Junior Bree Bunting and senior Cassie Ridings finished with 14 and 10 points
respectively. Senior Brooke Bunting finished with three points and junior Halley Albrighton added
two to propel the Broncos to a decisive 70-50 victory.
WHEREAS, while a state championship is the perfect way to end any season, the victory
continued a standard of for the girls basketball program. Platte Valley finished the season with a
perfect 26-0 record and finished their second consecutive season undefeated in the Patriot
League; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments on the basketball court are impressive. But even more
important are the skills learned and practiced during a season. Just as teamwork, dedication a
strong work ethic and a consistent desire to improve have aided the Broncos in athletic pursuits,
it's important team members remember those skills can and should be used to accomplish future
goals in life.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that the
25th day of April 2022, be known as Platte Valley Broncos Day. The board congratulates coaches,
parents and players on winning a state championship, the second consecutive for the Broncos.
