EATON REDS DAY - NOVEMBER 16, 2022
WHEREAS, the Eaton Reds softball team competed in the Class 3A state championship
game against the University Bulldogs Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Aurora Sports Park;
and
WHEREAS, a strong offensive performance behind the bats of juniors Julia Meagher, Ayla
Ritchey, and Stephanie Bingley, along with senior Zoe Lampe, propelled the Reds to a 9-1
victory; and
WHEREAS, Meager was also solid on the mound while also relying on stellar defense
behind her to prevent the Bulldogs from scoring more than one run; and
WHEREAS, the ability of the Reds to win their second the state championship in three
years goes far beyond the effort shown in the championship game. The ability of the team
to overcome injuries and setbacks during the season, such as losing four consecutive
games, speaks to the determination of players, coaches and parents to work together and
never lose sight of a goal in the midst of adversity; and
WHEREAS, while the athletic excellence displayed brings us pride, it is the traits used to
win a state championship that we find equally important as they can be used to achieve
success later in life. We encourage players, coaches and parents to never forget what it
feels like to be called champions, and we join you in celebrating.
