Re: Community Project Request for the Greeley -Weld Airport
Dear Congresswoman Caraveo,
The Weld County Commissioners request your support for the proposed "Taxiway Bravo and Echo
Complex" project at the Greeley -Weld County Airport. The project will allow the airport to
enhance its safety and operational capabilities while at the same time increasing its growth
potential.
Currently, the airport provides $125 million in economic impacts to the local economy and is
directly responsible for around 400 jobs. In addition to the economic benefits of the airport, it
provides life-saving capabilities for our citizens in the form of life -flight helicopters and fixed -
wing aircraft which can transport critical care patients. The airport is also a hub for our future
generation of aviators in the form of flight training activities that take place at the airport.
The Greeley -Weld County Airport is home to three flight schools directly making an impact on
the pilot shortage as well as having facilities that can accommodate flight schools from across the
front range. Another benefit of the Greeley -Weld County Airport is to our local businesses in the
form of fast and efficient transportation. The airport provides facilities for businesses to fly in and
out of Greeley and the surrounding communities, saving them valuable time and helping to entice
future businesses to base their operations close by.
The funding request for this project is $5,000,000.00 and would result in a direct increase in
employment, economic output, and business interest in the local area and District 8. Please
consider this project as part of your 2024 Community Project Funding Process.
