RE: REGULATING, WARNING, AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING EXTENSION OF
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 7 BETWEEN COUNTY ROAD 48 AND
STATE HIGHWAY 56 FOR APPROXIMATELY AN ADDITIONAL THREE(3)WEEKS,
FOR UNANTICIPATED ADDITIONAL ROAD WORK AND SUPPLY DELAYS
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,Colorado,pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County,Colorado,and
WHEREAS,pursuant to C.R.S.§42-4-106(6)(a):
"...local authorities,with their respective jurisdiction may,for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance,temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall,in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...",and
WHEREAS,on the 25th day of September,2023,pursuant to said statute and upon the
basis of traffic and personnel investigations,the Board determined that conditions exist which
made it necessary to temporarily close County Road 7, between County Road 48 and
State Highway 56,to through traffic and to regulate,warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting
signs thereon,with said closure being effective October 9,2023,for approximately one(1)month
for culvert replacements and road work,and
WHEREAS,on the 6th day of November,2023,pursuant to said statute and upon the
basis of traffic and personnel investigations,the Board has determined that conditions continue
to exist which make it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 7,between
County Road 48 and State Highway 56,with said extended closure being effective November 9,
2023, for approximately an additional three (3) weeks through December 2, 2023, for
unanticipated additional roadwork and supply delays,and further,that standard official traffic
control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County,Colorado,deems it necessary to regulate,warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof,and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate,warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the closure of County Road 7, between
County Road 48 and State Highway 56,be,and hereby is,extended,with said extended closure
being effective November 9,2023,for approximately an additional three(3)weeks through
December 2,2023,for unanticipated additional roadwork and supply delays,and further,that
standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the
restrictions.
The above and foregoing Resolution was,on motion duly made and seconded,adopted
by the following vote on the 6th day of November,A.D.,2023.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
Weld County Public Works is requesting approval from the board for an extension for the closure on
WCR 7 between WCR 48 and SH 56.The project is taking longer than previously anticipated due to more
profiling and widening work,and the distance that the trucks are having to drive to bring in the material
for the job is causing a delay.
The original closure dates were 10/09/2023 thru 11/09/2023 and the requested extension will be to
12/02/2023.
