RE: REGULATING, WARNING, AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING EXTENSION OF
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 50 BETWEEN COUNTY
ROADS 53 AND 55 FOR APPROXIMATELY AN ADDITIONAL TWO (2) WEEKS, FOR
UNANTICIPATED SUPPLY CHAIN DELAYS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a):
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of July, 2023, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions exist which made it
necessary to temporarily close County Road 50, between County Roads 53 and 55, to through
traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting signs thereon, with said closure
being effective July 5, 2023, for approximately ten (10) days, through July 14, 2023, for a culvert
replacement, and
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of July, 2023, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions continue to exist
which make it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 50, between County
Roads 53 and 55, with said extended closure being effective July 14, 2023, for approximately an
additional two (2) weeks through July 28, 2023, for unanticipated supply chain delays, and further,
that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the
restrictions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the closure of County Road 50, between County
Roads 53 and 55, be, and hereby is, extended, with said extended closure being effective July 14,
2023, for approximately an additional two (2) weeks through July 28, 2023, for unanticipated
supply chain delays, and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at
said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 19th day of July, A.D., 2023, nunc pro tunc July 14, 2023.

SUBJECT: BOCC Agenda Item
Weld County Public Works is requesting approval to extend the closure on Weld County Road 50 from
Weld County Road 53 to Weld County Road 55. Public Works would like to extend this project to open
on July 28, 2023, due to supply chain delays.
The original closure dates were 7/5/2023 thru 7/14/2023.
