Dear Commissioners:
As you know, the League of Women Voters of Greeley -Weld County is part of a
national, non-partisan organization. Promoting informed, active participation in
government is an essential purpose.
One element of the League's work is an Observer Corps. Members of the Observer
Corps attend public meetings and submit reports to their local Leagues. These
reports include attendance records, issues under consideration, actions taken, and
so forth. Observers remain alert to agenda items that would be of interest to the
League.
Our observers wear badges to identify themselves as League of Women Voters
representatives. They only observe. They do not speak, do not request time on the
agenda, and do not participate in discussions or meetings. In this way, we hope to
educate League members about the functions of their public organizations and
demonstrate to all people in the public sector that the League supports good
governing.
I am writing to introduce Cindy Bullard, who has indicated her interest in observing
meetings of the Weld County Commissioners. She plans to attend some meetings
in person. When that is not possible, she'll attend remotely.
