NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICAT®RS WEEK
APRIL 9-15, 2023
WHEREAS, recognized nationally every year in April, National Public Safety
Telecommunicators Week is a time to recognize and celebrate 911 dispatchers and Public
Safety personnel who play a critical role in assisting people during emergencies, and
WHEREAS, those who work in Weld County's Regional Communications Center exemplify
excellence and a continual desire to help people in times of need by maintaining
professionalism and providing a calm voice and clear instructions to those experiencing the
worst moment of their lives The ability of dispatchers to think clearly and respond quickly
in the fast -paced world of emergency response is a unique skill that helps save countless
lives and facilitates positive outcomes to uncertain and scary situations, and
WHEREAS, the continued excellence of our Public Safety personnel has been widely
recognized over the past year. In 2022, 18 dispatchers received Lifesaver Awards for their
actions in providing lifesaving instructions to individuals. Weld County dispatchers have been
recognized individually by people they've helped and by leadership in Greeley and Platteville
The Weld County Regional Communications Center has also once again been named an
Accredited Center of Excellence by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, and
WHEREAS, while we salute our dispatchers for their tireless work in emergency response,
we also want to thank Public Safety's administrative team, radio technicians and training
team for providing the stability and support that has made Weld County's Regional
Communications Center one of the best nationwide.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners
that April 9-15, 2023, be recognized as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
