The Board of Directors of the St. Vrain Sanitation District (`District Board") is asking for
some support. The Town of Firestone, through Water Court Case No. 19CW3236, wants to
construct vertical and horizontal wells on the District's wastewater treatment facility property
along St. Vrain Creek ("the Claimed Well Field"). If the wells are constructed, this will stop future
expansion at the site, which could cost the District and our customers millions of dollars as we
would have to find a new wastewater treatment plant site. The District Board hopes you will let
Firestone know it should dismiss its claims against the District and pursue alternative well fields.
We ask for your support on this unusual request for the following reasons:
The District requires free use of its property for constructing additional sewage treatment
facilities required by law and regional growth. If the District's use of its property is restricted by
the Claimed Well Field, the Sanitation District will need to pursue alternative sites for the
treatment facilities, which will cost the District's customers, including those in Firestone,
Frederick, Dacono, Longmont, Mead, Platteville, and unincorporated Weld County millions of
dollars.
To protect the District's property and its ability to construct the necessary wastewater
treatment facilities, which in turn protects the financial well-being of the District and its
customers, the District is asking Firestone to dismiss the Claimed Well Field. The District is only
trying to protect our property where the wastewater treatment facilities are located. Firestone
should pursue alternative well fields that do not cause financial damage to others. The costs of
the litigation will escalate dramatically if Firestone refuses to drop the Claimed Well Field and the
District is forced to go to tr*al this July.
In an effort to resolve this matter amicably and avoid further litigation, Directors of the
District recently met with F restone Mayor Drew Peterson and Mayor Pro Tem Frank A. Jimenez.
Firestone understands the problems with its Claimed Well Field but has not taken steps to
dismiss that claim. Therefofe, the St. Vrain Sanitation Board of Directors is asking you to contact
Firestone Trustees directly as soon as possible with the following message:
As a representative of taxpaying customers of the St. Vrain Sanitation
District [if applicable add: and as a Firestone resident], I request that

Firestone dismiss the claim for the St. Vrain Sanitation District Well Field in
Case No. 19CW3236 immediately to avoid unnecessarily wasting taxpayer
dollars, and instead pursue the alternative water well fields that Firestone
has also claimed in Case No. 19CW3236.
