NATIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION WEEK
OCTOBER 15-21, 2023
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment's Health
Education, Communication, and Planning division plays an important role in the health and
wellness of Weld County residents by emphasizing the importance of health literacy, disease
prevention, data analytics, and fostering healthier communities; and
WHEREAS, the division is committed to improving health outcomes by helping to maintain
national public health accreditation, data collection and analysis, building resiliency and
positive youth behaviors with evidence -based initiatives such as Diabetes Prevention Program,
Weld Waits, Drive Smart Weld County, Tobacco Education and Prevention, and Substance Use
Disorder Education and Prevention programs; and
WHEREAS, the division promotes wellness through community -based programs that focus
on nutrition, physical activity, and disease prevention such as the Healthy Eating -Active Living,
and Cooking Matters Programs. The division also offers valuable information, materials, and
resources to empower individuals and communities in making informed health decisions
through the Community Health Survey and other data reports, Communities that Care,
Childhood Obesity Prevention and Breastfeeding Support programs; and
WHEREAS, National Health Education Week provides an opportunity to recognize the
dedication, hard work, and contributions of the Health Education, Communication, and
Planning division in enhancing public health.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners
that the week of October 15-21, be known as National Health Education Week. We encourage
all residents to explore the resources and programs offered by the division, at
weld.gov/go/Health Ed.
