Society -funded researchers have contributed to nearly every major cancer research breakthrough we've seen in the almost 70 years since the Society's research program began. They've helped establish the link between cancer and smoking; demonstrated the effectiveness of the Pap test; developed cancer -fighting drugs and biological response modifiers such as interferon; dramatically increased the cure rate for childhood leukemia; proven the safety and effectiveness of mammography; and so much more. Since 1946, the American Cancer Society has invested more than $4.9 billion in research, recognizing and providing the funding 49 researchers needed to get started and go on to win the Nobel Prize. The Society is proud to have contributed to the work that has resulted in a 29% drop in the overall cancer death rate in the United States. That drop equates to 2.9 million fewer cancer deaths between 1991 and 2017. Progress continues and is currently estimated at 500 fewer cancer deaths each day. 3. Luckily, both can be considered on the same day and time at the Commissioners' hearing. I have copied Max Nader, Planning Manager, to this email and he can assist you by providing further information about the Single Day Event Permit. Please note: this is a brand new process and staff is still finalizing the form. It will likely be available by next week, but Max will know more. In regards to the Special Events Permit (SEP), once you have the Single Day Event Permit ready for submission to the Planning Department, please let me know and we can schedule a time for submission of the SEP. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Best, Chloe A. Please contact Esther Gesick at egesick(a,weld.gov or (970) 400-4226 if you have any immediate needs during this time. The Clerk to the Board's Office will be experiencing a heavier than usual workload during July through the middle of August due to expected property tax appeals. Likewise, the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division is experiencing a staffing shortage that is causing longer than usual application processing times. Usually your event is towards the middle of September, so you'd need to submit your Special Events Permit application no less than 30 -days prior to that (if still being hosted in unincorporated Weld County). If at all possible to submit your application prior to then, we would truly appreciate your consideration, but it is by no means mandatory. Depending on the timing of submittal, please contact myself or Esther to schedule an appointment and we'd be happy to assist you. Sincere regards, Chloe A.
