EATON REDS DAY
MONDAY, JANUARY 16, 2023
WHEREAS, the Eaton Reds football team played the Delta Panthers in the Class 2A state
championship on Saturday, November 26, at the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl in
Pueblo; and
WHEREAS, the game saw the Reds challenged by the Panthers, but timely offense and
defense allowed the Reds to hang on to a narrow lead throughout the game. After a big
fourth -and -1 stop in the fourth quarter by the Reds' defense ended Delta's threat to take
the lead, Eaton's running game drove down the field. Senior running back Morgan
Tribbett, named the game's Most Valuable Player, found the end zone late in the game
to seal the 21-10 championship victory; and
WHEREAS, Saturday's victory marked the ending to a special season and continued
Eaton's dominance on the football field. The Reds have won the state championship in
three of the past four seasons, a testament to the talent and continued hard work,
teamwork and dedication of players, coaches and parents; and
WHEREAS, while the achievements on the football field will eventually fade into
memories, it is our sincere hope that team members never forget the traits that allowed
them to be successful. A strong work ethic coupled with many of the same traits used
this season will serve as a foundation for accomplishing other goals in life.
NOW,,THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Weld County Commissioners
