HomeMy WebLinkAbout740058.tiff RESOLUTION RE: REGULATION OF SPEED ON COUNTY ROAD NO. 22 FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH I-25 SERVICE ROAD AND EXTENDING EAST FOR. APPROXIMATELY 2, 000 FEET IN WELD COUNTY, COLORADO. WHEREAS, a multitude of complaints have been made to the Board of County Commiss ioners, Weld County, Colorado, that motor vehicles habitually are being driven at speeds greater than is reasonable and prudent along that part of said highway being in Weld County, Colorado, and known as County Road No. 22 from its intersection with I-25 service road and extending East for approximately 2, 000 feet in Weld County, Colorado, and all intersections of streets and roads therewith, and WHEREAS, said Board is authorized by the statutes of the State of Colorado to regulate the speed of vehicles, and WHEREAS, said Board, pursuant to such complaints, has deter- mined upon the basis of engineering, traffic investigations and a special speed survey, that any speed in excess of 30 miles per hour on, along or over said portion of said road or highway and at all intersections of other roads therewith is excessive and is greater than is reasonable, safe or prudent under the conditions which exist. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that no motor vehicle shall be driven on, over or along any portion of said road or highway, or at or across, or at the entrance to, any intersection or any other street, road or highway therewith, at a speed in excess of 30 miles per hour, and that any speed in excess of 30 miles per hour, and the driving of any vehicles at any speed in excess of said limit of 30 miles per hour thereon or thereat shall be prima facie evidence that said speed is not reasonable, safe or prudent and that it is unlawful. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 7th day of August, A.D. 1974. Rd. 22 and I-25 Servireon or ScM., Pnad A traffic study has been completed at the intersection of County Road No. 22 and the I-25 service road. County Road No. 22 borders the • saddle club at this point. This is a very dangerous intersection due to the customers of the saddle club failing to use the parking area provided. Horses are being- loaded and unloaded on County Road No. 22. At times, this road is completely blocked. _ Many complaints have been received from this area regarding this condition. Corrective action has been taken to stop any parking on County Road No. 22 for a distance of approximately 400 feet. Also a 30 mph speed zone at this point for rdfs-tance of approximately 2000 feet has been made. The attached diagram indicates the corrective action taken. The changes have been made and are proving to be satisfactory. Thomas, Captain Commanding Officer, Division III 201 14th Avenue Greeley, Colorado 80631 Dear Captain Thomas, We greatly appreciate your letter of March 18th and thank you for the help we know you will be in halting the destruction of County property and apprehending those responsible for the vandalism. Any information we do receive regarding this situation will be immediately forwarded to you.
