PROCLAMATION
NATIONAL AG DAY - MARCH 21, 2023
WHEREAS, the Weld County Board of Commissioners wishes to celebrate and recognize
the agricultural producers of Weld County; and
WHEREAS, agriculture's roots run deep in Weld County and continue to grow as operations
are passed down to the next generation of producers. Weld County's commitment to
keeping and strengthening ties to our agricultural roots is clear, and those who dedicate
their lives to preserving those roots should be celebrated; and
WHEREAS, recognized since 1973, Ag Day was first established by the Agriculture Council
of America to increase public awareness of agriculture's vital role in our society. The
families who work the land, care for the livestock, plant the crops, provide the nourishment
for our bodies, and preserve this way of life are essential to our county's economic security
and success; and
WHEREAS, Weld County remains the number one producer and seller of agricultural
products in Colorado, ranking eighth nationally, and bringing in $2 billion dollars annually
to help boost our economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Weld County Commissioners that
Tuesday, March 21, 2023, be known as National Ag Day. We call upon the citizens of Weld
County to join us in thanking our agricultural producers who are vital to our economic
foundation and who maintain a way of life that is essential to keeping us fed and nourished.
