RE: REGULATING, WARNING, AND GUIDING TRAFFIC DURING EXTENSION OF
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 44 BETWEEN COUNTY ROAD 33 AND
U.S. HIGHWAY 85 FOR APPROXIMATELY AN ADDITIONAL TWO (2) WEEKS, FOR
UNANTICIPATED DELAYS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to C.R.S. §42-4-106(6)(a):
"...local authorities, with their respective jurisdiction may, for the
purpose of road construction and maintenance, temporarily close to
through traffic or to all vehicular traffic any highway or portion
thereof for a period not to exceed a specified number of work days
for project completion and shall, in conjunction with any such road
closure establish appropriate detours or provide for an alternative
routing of the traffic affected...", and
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of June, 2023, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions exist which made it
necessary to temporarily close County Road 44, between County Road 33 and U.S. Highway 85,
to through traffic and to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic by posting signs thereon, with
said closure being effective June 12, 2023, for approximately two (2) weeks, through June 26,
2023, for roadway and intersection improvements, and
WHEREAS, on the 26th day of June, 2023, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis
of traffic and personnel investigations, the Board has determined that conditions exist which make
it necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 44, between County Road 33 and
U.S. Highway 85, with said extended closure being effective June 26, 2023, for approximately an
additional two (2) weeks through July 10, 2023, for unanticipated delays due to inclement weather,
and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving
notice of the restrictions, and
WHEREAS, on the 12th day of July, 2023, pursuant to said statute and upon the basis of
traffic and personnel investigations, the Board determined that conditions exist which made it
necessary to extend said temporary closure of County Road 44, between County Road 33 and
U.S. Highway 85, with said extended closure being effective June 26, 2023, for approximately an
additional two (2) weeks through July 31, 2023, for unanticipated delays due to inclement weather,
and further, that standard official traffic control devices shall be erected at said closure giving
notice of the restrictions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, deems it necessary to regulate, warn and guide vehicular traffic on County
roads and any intersections thereof, and it hereby authorizes and orders the posting of such traffic
control devices as shall be reasonably necessary to regulate, warn and/or guide traffic thereon
for the safety of the general public and that said traffic control devices shall conform to the Federal
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, does declare and establish that the closure of County Road 44, between County
Road 33 and U.S. Highway 85, be, and hereby is, extended, with said extended closure being
effective June 26, 2023, for approximately an additional two (2) weeks through July 31, 2023, for
unanticipated delays due to inclement weather, and further, that standard official traffic control
devices shall be erected at said closure giving notice of the restrictions.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 12th day of July, A.D., 2023.

85 through 7/31/23 for roadway and intersection improvements for CDOT flyover project. Completion
was delayed due to weather.
