RE: APPROVE APPLICATION FOR DEMOCRACY SUITE ICX PRINTER
REIMBURSEMENT GRANT AND AUTHORIZE CLERK AND RECORDER'S OFFICE
TO SUBMIT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Application for Democracy Suite ICX
Printer Reimbursement Grant from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the
Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Clerk and Recorder's Office, to
the Colorado Department of State, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said
application, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said application, a copy
of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Application for Democracy Suite ICX Printer Reimbursement
Grant from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Clerk and Recorder's Office, to the Colorado
Department of State, be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Rudy Santos, Chief Deputy Clerk and
Recorder, be, and hereby is, authorized to submit said application.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 8th day of May, A.D., 2023.

Reimbursement.

Brief description of the problem/issue:
Reimbursement of costs for acquisition of Ballot Marking Device printers. These printers are used in
conjunction with the ballot marking devices we deploy to our voter service and polling centers.
What options exist for the Board? (include consequences, impacts, costs, etc. of options):
Voters must be able to print an actual completed ballot when using a ballot marking device at voting locations.
Currently the printer we use can only print maximum size ballot of 14 inches. Most elections we use an 18 -
inch ballot with ballot content on both sides. Printers used at the voter service and polling centers must be
capable of printing duplex in excess of 14 -inches.
Recommendation:
Please delegate Clerk and Recorder to submit the grant application to offset some of the costs associated with
acquisition of printers so voters can print a full ballot when using a ballot marking device at the voter service
and polling centers.
