ABOUT THE PROGRAM CATEGORY: Criminal Justice and Public Safety YEAR: 2023 In 2019, Weld County (CO) set out to replace its public safety system which included CAD, law, and fire mobile, records management, jail and work release management systems. A steering committee was formed with the CIO, Director of Finance, Sheriff, and Director of Communications to provide recommendations to the board of county commissioners and provide direction to the eight working groups made up of various staff and first responders of 42 different agencies. At the heart of this project was the opportunity to engage and build ongoing relationships that would allow Weld County to improve not only the software they used but also the entire environment in process, workflow, and output. The team published an RFI and RFP with over 2,100 requirements, and after a vendor selection process and 44 workshops, over 200 people worked together to build the new system. The COVID-19 pandemic and vendor employee departures caused delays so the team used the "extra" time to conduct full -scenario tests and provide drop -in training and executive workshops to keep end -users engaged. 2023-1528 (4 2023 ACH I EVEM ENT AWARD WINNER "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, then you are a leader.
