On behalf of the Board of Commissioners for Weld County, Colorado, please accept this letter of
interest/support.
The Board of County Commissioners and through its Justice Services Department, supports Dr. Victoria
Terranova, her research team, and the University of Northern Colorado's (UNC) effort in the proposed
study evaluating pretrial release decisions, supervision conditions, and services. We have been briefed on
and understand the aims and goals of the study. Dr. Terranova has outlined the components of this planned
research and our Justice Services Department supports these efforts and agrees to serve as a collaborating
research site.
We understand the purpose and procedures of the proposed research project, including that any confidential
data derived from, provided to, or obtained by Dr. Terranova and her research team will be used to complete
the study. This proposed study will be reviewed and approved by UNC's Institutional Review Board (IRB)
and will adhere to their data management and security requirements. Weld County is the third -largest
county in Colorado, covering over 4,000 square miles and the University of Northern Colorado is located
in Greeley, which is the county seat of Weld County. We maintain strong relationships with UNC. We hope
you select Dr. Terranova and her team from UNC for this important research project.
