HIGHWAY NO. 34 AND ITS INTERSECTION WITH EAST 24TH STREET, ALSO KNOWN AS COUNTY ROAD NO. 58, AND ON CHERRY AVENUE SOUTH FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH U. S. HIGHWAY NO. 34 AND ITS INTERSECTION WITH EAST 24TH STREET, ALSO KNOWN AS COUNTY ROAD NO. 58 AND ON EAST 24TH STREET, ALSO KNOWN AS COUNTY ROAD NO. 58, EAST OF THE CITY OF GREELEY, WELD COUNTY, COLORADO. WHEREAS , a multitude of complaints have been made to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that motor vehicles are habitually being driven at speeds greater than is reasonable and prudent along that part of said highway, being in Weld County, and known as County Road 56. 5 West from U.S. Highway No. 34 and its intersection with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 , and on Cherry Avenue South from its intersection with U. S. Highway No. 34 and its intersection with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, and on East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 , East of the City of Greeley, Weld County, Colorado, and all intersections of streets and roads there- with, and WHEREAS, said Board is authorized by the statutes of the State of Colorado to regulate the speed of vehicles, and WHEREAS, said Board, pursuant to such complaints , has deter- mined upon the basis of engineering, traffic investigations and a special speed survey, that any speed along or over said portion of said road or roadway, and all intersections of other roads therewith, in excess of the following, to-wit: Westbound Traffic: From the intersection of U.S. Highway No. 34 and County Road No. 56. 5 and extending Westerly to its intersection with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; Westbound Traffic: From the intersection of County Road No. 56 . 5 and East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 , and extending West for approximately 5/8 miles - 35 miles per hour; Northbound Traffic : From the intersection of East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 and Cherry Avenue, and extending North on Cherry Avenue to its intersection with U.S . Highway No. 34, a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; Southbound Traffic: From the intersection of U. S. Highway No. 34 and Cherry Avenue and extending South on Cherry Avenue to its intersection with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 , a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; Eastbound Traffic: From the intersection of the East Greeley City Limits and East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, and extending East on East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, for approximately 5/8 miles - 35 miles per hour; Southbound Traffic: From the intersection of East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 with County Road No. 56 . 5, and extending Northeasterly on County Road No. 56 .5 a distance of approximately one mile - 35th miles per hour; is excessive and is greater than is reasonable, safe or prudent under the conditions that exist. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, that no motor vehicle shall be driven on, over or along any portion, or portions, of said roads or highways, or at or across, or at the entrance to, any intersection of any other street, road or highway therewith, at a speed in excess of the following, to-wit: Westbound Traffic: From the intersection of U.S . Highway No. 34 and County Road No. 56 . 5 and extending Westerly to its intersection with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 , a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; Westbound Traffic : From the intersection of County Road No. 56 . 5 and East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, and extending West for approximately 5/8 miles - 35 miles per hour; Northbound Traffic: From the intersection of East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, and Cherry Avenue, and extending North on Cherry Avenue to its intersection with U.S . Highway No. 34 , a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; Southbound Traffic: From the intersection of U. S. Highway No. 34 and Cherry Avenue and extending South on Cherry Avenue to its intersection with East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; Eastbound Traffic : From the intersection of the East Greeley City Limits and East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58 , and extending East on East 24th Street, also known as County Road No. 58, for approximately 5/8 miles - 35 miles per hour; Southbound Traffic : From the intersection of East 24th Street, also known as County -2- Road No. 58 , with County Road No. 56 . 5, and extending Northeasterly on County Road No. 56. 5 a distance of approximately one mile - 35 miles per hour; and that any speed in excess of the aforementioned speed limits, and the driving of any vehicles at any speed in excess of said limits, as aforementioned, thereon or thereat shall be prima facie evidence that said speed is not reasonable, safe or prudent, and that it is unlawful. Commissioners Dote August 27,_1974 For Info To Your Action Or Reply Is Required Subject: Traffic Study On Or Before A traffic study has been completed on Cherry Avenue south of Highway 34, east of 1st Avenue on East 24th Street, and County Road No. 562 west of Highway 34. This is a very dangerous area due to the high rate of speed used on these roads, blind corners, and many children. Several complaints have been received from this area regarding this condition. Corrective action taken has been to speed zone Cherry Avenue from Highway 34 to the intersection of East 24th Street and County Road No. 56-2, East 24th Street from this intersection to the City limit, and County Road No. 56-2 from this intersection to Highway 34 on the east, all to 35 m.p.h. Also, all three roads are properly signed to be a full stop at this intersection. School Bus Loading signs have also been installed on County Road No. 56-2. The attached diagram indicates the corrective action taken. All signs are installed.
