HomeMy WebLinkAbout20232008.tiffRECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WELD COUNTY, COLORADO MONDAY, JULY 17, 2023 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Administration Building, Greeley, Colorado, July 17, 2023, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. • ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner Mike Freeman, Chair Commissioner Perry L. Buck, Pro-Tem Commissioner Scott K. James Commissioner Kevin D. Ross Commissioner Lori Saine Also present: County Attorney, Bruce Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Houstan Aragon Chief Financial Officer, Cheryl Pattelli • AMENDMENTS TO AGENDA: There were no amendments to the agenda. • CONSENT AGENDA: Commissioner Ross moved to approve the Consent Agenda, as printed. Commissioner James seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. • COMMISSIONER COORDINATOR REPORTS: Commissioner Ross reported the Department of Public Works has been continuing to work diligently on repairing roads that have been washed out by floods throughout the County. He further noted Kochia weeds are in abundance, and as an invasive species of plant, he urged landowners to mitigate them before they turn into tumble weeds in the fall. Commissioner Saine reported she attended a dinner with the Town of Erie regarding support for their representation with the Highplains Library District, and partnerships of Proposition 123 (affordable housing programs). She further stated she attended a 1041 Solar Energy meeting, where some progress was made, and attended a Citizens Guide meeting with realtors to gain understanding of the complexities of purchasing property located in rural Weld County, as opposed to being within a city or town. Commissioner Saine met with Tina Powell, Director of the Department of Public Safety Communications, who informed her of concerns regarding the hesitation on utilizing and integrating CodeRed services that are provided to the citizens of Weld County. She stated the CSU Extension Office of Weld County hosted Jacks Solar Garden tour for experimental solar fencing in gardens to allow for a wider variety of crops to be grown despite natural barriers of weather and growing seasons, both for medicinal uses and consumption. Minutes, Monday, July 17, 2023 Page 1 2023-2008 BC0016 le PRESENTATIONS: 1) LIFE SAVING AWARDS, SHERIFF'S OFFICE - TAYLOR ALLSUP AND HAYDEN VIGUERIA: Chair Freeman invited those being recognized to come to the front. Captain Matt Turner, Sheriff's Office, introduced Sergeant Josh Todd who recognized Deputies Allsup and Vigueria, and shared their similar stories where they saved the lives of inmates from choking incidents. He stated the heroic acts of these deputies went above and beyond the call of duty and lives were spared due to their quality emergency training and quick responses. The Board shared their appreciation for the opportunity to recognize their heroic efforts and never hesitating to assist in an emergency situation. They all shared their respect for law enforcement, who never truly have a day off and always respond, which makes Weld County citizens and law enforcement agencies proud. (Clerk's Note: The group gathered for a photo opportunity.) El WARRANTS: 1) GENERAL WARRANTS - JULY 12, AND 14, 2023: Commissioner Ross moved to approve the General Warrants, as printed. Commissioner James seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment. RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES: The Resolutions were presented and signed as listed on the Consent Agenda. No Ordinances were approved. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Clerk to the Board. There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:13 a.m. These Minutes were approved on the 31st day of July, 2023.
