Home My WebLink About720037.tiff RESOLUTION RE: CLOSING OF 50TH AVENUE IN WELD COUNTY WHERE IT INTERSECTS U. S. HIGHWAY # 34 BY PASS WEST OF GREELEY, COLORADO. WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, requesting the closing of 50th Avenue in Weld County, where it intersects U. S. Highway #34 By Pass west of Greeley, Colorado; said intersection of 50th Avenue and U. S. Highway #34 By Pass being located adjacent to property wholly owned by the aforementioned petitioners, and WHEREAS, no objections to said petition for the closing of 50th Avenue where it intersects with U. S. Highway #34 By Pass has been received in the office of the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, it appears that the necessity of the public no longer requires this-entrance onto U. S. Highway #34 By Pass from 50th Avenue, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, believes it to be in the best interest of the public and Weld County to approve said petition. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners, Weld County, Colorado, that 50th Avenue where it intersects U. S. Highway #34 By Pass west of Greeley, Colorado, be, and it is hereby declared abandoned, vacated and closed, in accordance with the submitted petition. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 14th day of June, 1972. Billings Weld County Board of Commissioners Weld County Courthouse Greeley, Colorado 80631 Dear Glenn: Thank you for your letter of March 15, 1972, with a petition from the residents of Highland Hills, requesting thelclosing of 50th Avenue where it intersects with U.S. 34 Bypass west of Greeley. / We are certainly in agreement that this entrance to U.S. 34 should be closed. Its location makes it ex- tremely hazardous. If the county is willing to put up the necessary barricades across 50th Avenue, we will be happy to do all the necessary work inside our right of way to ob- literate this entrance and to reseed within the right of way limits. We think the county has done a very commendable job in the elimination of this entrance and also the citizens of thi Highland Hills area. If we can be of any further service, please advise.
