Subject: Longmont Landfill Site On Or Befor. After talking to the applicant for a new dump site, a representative of the Weld County Health Department, a Longmont Council Member, a Longmont Public Works Director and several other people in the area along with a visual sight of the1area, I came up with the following findings: 1 ) Applicant states he can lease a portion of the Charles Hayes property adjacent to the existing site of the Longmont Dump for a new dump site. 2) City of Longmont owns 200 acres more or less in this immediate area, and is presently operating a Municipal Dump on a portion of this property. 3) From all appearances the Longmont Dump is being handled in a satisfactory manner. 4) City of Longmont Officials and others estimate between 20 and 30 years before present site is exhausted. 5) Present dump is open to the public, see copy of attached fee schedule. 6) Residences of Longmont are charged a flat fee for use of the dump (trash pickup fee). 7) These same people can haul grass clippings etc. to the dump with no extra charge. 8) Access to the proposed dump site is questionable. 9) In no way can another dump in this area benefit any resident in Weld County. 10) Weld County Commissioners decision as to who they can issue landfill permits to. 11 ) Area in Southwest Weld County is now being served adequately by public dumps located near Erie, Fort Lupton, and the Longmont Dump. 12) Another dump in the same area would only multiply the problems. 13) In talking to all people involved there are indications that some personal problems might exist in this area. cc: Co.
